OK giggsy, it does for some reason make mine quiter. I also turn on the diagnoses with it so its probably the diagnoses which is keeping it quiet!

On your memory card, thier is a ps2 system/config settings. Whats that all about, shouldnt that load that setting every time your ps2 loads up?

er.not sure it automaticaly saves clock settings and stuff in the system config.

it don't save the diagnosis cos not everyone needs it.

You can use any CD cleaner. I used just an old one I found from the cupboard. It was just disk with little brushes on it and when it loads you hav choices. E.g. Standard clean

Sony said that cleaners tend to shorten the life of the laser for some reason!

i think their is a way of opening your ps2 up and changing the strenght of the laser.

but it can damage some games and overheat.

Theirs a screw giggsy which you turn to change the sensitivity of the laser. I tried that when i had the D.R.E and it worked fine for a week or 2 then it crapped out!

is it true you can turn your PES2 option file into a PES3 options file? i read if you did this the team flags you had on pes2 would be on pes3

Yeah i tried that last night, not the flag bit but the names i try to transfer. It didnt work for me. I check the flags later for you.

In PES3 there is an option to load you PES2 option file or your PES1 option file.
Be careful of any transfers you made though as that could screw a few things up.

Do you mean changing the voltage? I don't think that's directly related to Disc Read Errors (the acronym sounds too much like the rapper) and it's a bit riskier then cleaning the lens. I've heard it has worked for some people though.

On the Sony saying CD lens cleaners mess up the life of your PS2, it's quite a funny mix-up actually. Initially, SCEE announced that using said devices could quite considerably ruin your PS2 then, around two weeks later, in a small press conference, SCEA claimed this was false.

Little bit of a misunderstanding across the Atlanctic, I presume.
Anyway, just to be on the safe side, I reccomend going in manually.

SONY on the phone told me to try the cd lens cleaner, i rang them a day or two later to sort out a refurbished machine and i told them about the lens cleaner. They told me that they mess the laser up. They should try to stick to one story!
