My Slowdown Fixed

Seriously, Ive now proven this on quite a few machines. I was getting slowdon on my 2100xp 512mb and ti4200 with resolution set to 1024 and details to high. WIn XP 50.something dets.

Im now running with no slowdown at these settings with everything in the game modded, kits, ads, new stadia etc. And its running fast, no slow mo ever!!!

1) Double click PES3
2) Alt-tab to minimise the game
3) Ctrl-alt-del to bring up Task Manager
4) Select Processes Tab and locate PES3.exe
5) Highlight it and right click
6)Choose select priority and alter it to REALTIME.
7)Close task manger
8)Maximise the game.

Ive now proved this!! If I dont alter the priority on my machine its very very choppy! If I alter it it im at High detail AND 1152 resolution. Lovely! I have also used the Override refresh rate in the Det settings to 75.

If I get time later ill write a quick .bat file to launch the exe with the correct priority.

I'm glad you found a fix for your issue, but this is really more a workaround to your problem rather than a final fix.

Glad you were able to get the game running the way you want though!

So what would be the command line instruction to start it this way then? I thought I *was* loading it in Realtime priority by using a batch file with the lines as follows:

cd\Program Files\KONAMI\Pro Evolution Soccer 3
start /Realtime pes3.exe

However, switching to windowed mode to check the task manager showed it was running on "normal". Trying to move the /Realtime switch to the end of that line in the batch file makes no difference either.

Yep, thats what im also seeing. Task manager does not show the change if starting from a .bat command prompt. And i still see the choppyness! CONFUSED!

Manually changing the priority works though! Ive proved it on a few machines now!

Still investigating! I think theres a download somewhere called process.exe which once copied to system32 and used in the .bat FORCES the change..

Will report back soon! :)

the realtime fix is really a bandaid for an underpowered cpu and vid card (both or either).

i'd really look into tweaking your system more that to rely on this

Hey Ctrl-alt-del

Sorry you seem so wary of this!

Can you explain which tweak will produce the same results??

Perhaps theres something my MSCE missed??

Ive tweaked my box so much! Hehehe Ive even hard soldered my mobo!!

Cmon lets here it!

Amblin respectfully shuts up...

<- Operating Systems Adminstrator....MCSE also ;)

  • i'd consider the health status of your disk drives
  • i'd consider that a 4200 is a bad video card for todays games
  • i'd wonder if your OS is an up to date OS and if its patched up to current patch levels
  • i'd mix and match drivers, as the latest ones arnt always the greatest for older cards
  • i'd recommend setting your page/swap file to a fixed size at 2.5-3x your physical memory.
  • i'd also consider altering your direct3d settings in the advanced settings of your display panel in windows

You can also contact Konami support. I'd send them a dump from dxdiag in an email.

Hehehe,

Disks Fine
4200 Not up to it...Agreed 5900XT on order (Its just slightly more expensive but loads more power!) Would like an ATI but def some trouble with MSI K7N2-Delta boards...
Yeah XP bang up to date (and tweaked till it squeaks!)
Yep Swap file done (also no swap file whilst defragging )
Direct 3d fine, All my games run lovely
Driver..Yeah they are good.

No offence to you m8. I love this game. Ive been playing Computer footie since i plugged Internation Soccer into my trusty oll C64. With PES being so good I wanted to run it the best I could and the priority tweak makes it run perfect.

Continued good luck with the forums!

I go in peace!

good stuff man
usually the case with some people here is that they overlook one little thing that could have a drastic impact on their gaming...glad to see you are knowledgable enough to figure a lot of this out on your own!

you should however mentioned your priority recommendation, and possible a procedure in the slowdown main thread so that people looking can have some more options to try!

i am curious to see how the 5900 will do once you get that all setup and configured...keep us posted!
