Has anyone that has got the game managed to get onto the network?

Will the servers be activated yet? i keep getting an error message about the port or something and it can't log in and i should check my settings, even though i can sign in to the PSN network fine.

I've played online already. You may want to look into port opening. I'm expecting to see a lot of threads on it once the game is out officially.

Ahh...shit!

I'm getting the game tomorrow, and I was hoping this wouldn't be an issue.

Why can't they just use "normal ports" ? (I have no idea what I am talking about, but I wish it to be as easy as possible)

Whenever I play Rainbow Six Vegas or used to play Ressistance Fall of Man I just logged in and played....Same goes for Ghost Recon AWF 2. Playing NHL 2k8 I get a port thingie though, but I didn't fix it just yet..as I haven't had the time to log on to those router settings...

Can anyone put out a tutorial or a walktrough on this asap ? If someone knows what to do. Would like to have it all ready up as soon as I have the game. I'm pretty sure alot of others would as well :D

Cheers

I sorted out my ports a while ago I'll try fish something out but it really isn't going to be easy if you're a complete noob.

My biggest disappointment so far is that fact that us PS3ers wont have voice chat.
Would that be possible to incorporate with an update? Or am I just wishful thinking?

Yes, deano, you need to get into your router settings and open ports from there.

Yes... But I had hell with that on PES6... So I never got to play online there. I played alot on PES 5 Though...But I don't need this before my "all planned weekend" now :p

Yes, it's often called port forwarding. An easy way to look at it is opening a 'door' (port) in your firewall that protects your system. It will normally be closed as you won't need it, if however you want to play certain online games you will have to open that door.

If you log onto your router settings page there should be an option to allow certain devices to connect through 'doors' (ports), while keeping them closed to other devices such as your PC, ergo still keeping your PC safe from threats.

http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/N101145.asp - If you log onto your router you should get something similar to that, enter the ports PES08 gives you and then the IP of your PS3 on the network.

Hope that helps, if not get me your router details and I can help further.

I set up a static IP for my PS3 and have never had any problems. I also get Nat2 which I heard is better then Nat3

I guess I'll be hanging here a lot tomorrow then...haha!

Just got off the phone with my mate who got the game today and he also experienced some lag on that ONE online match he played. Hope this is just for a short period as those servers are fresh or something. Cause I really want the online mode to run supersmooth this year!

i've got a bt home hub, i can't seem to find a way of adding port forwarding numbers manually,

Hmmm... come to think of it, I can't remember being able to do it on the HomeHub, I just disabled the firewall and relied on the numerous firewalls on my PC. My adivce however would be to switch ISPs as BT will rip you off blind, Virgin and Sky are both better providers.

i have no problem with BT, the home hub works well i run a PC, a laptop and a PS3 off it plus i get the phone and it alls works well. Plus i live in a top floor flat so i can't get virgin even if i wanted to.
