there are definite changes to the gameplay. First of all the game feels slower, more realistic, but by doing this they made the players feel less responsive, and on defense like you mentioned it takes some getting used to especially vs fast players especially Barca or Real. I tried playing with Barca and they somehow felt the same as pre patch, still super fast, still turn on a dime responsive which is troubling that Konami would keep encouraging ppl to use them online by making them super good while toning down other teams . With that said, I feel that after a few games you get used to the new gameplay adjustments and the game feels good non the less. The ref reduction in calls is also a good move, more fludity and less stop and go.
Oh one last thing, I did notice that defenders sometimes "get stupid", thats the only way I could describe it, and on a through pass, if the offensive player is making a run and your defender is making the same run they will sometimes just stop or stutter allowing the offensive attacker to get the ball and go in uncontested. I noticed this much more post patch than before.
