Hi folks,
after enduring some years of frustration at the FIFA series' nice presentation/official licences vs. tediously simplistic gameplay I picked up PES3 last week and I must say, I'm increasingly impressed at the depth and sheer playability of this game. It's the football game that PC users have been dreaming of since day one. Aside from some undocumented and lazy hardware compatibility issues, the goofy commentary (even then, not so much worse than Fifa 04) and somewhat clunky console-ish interface, I can find no faults of consequence. However, I'm left with a couple of questions that I still can't categorically answer from browsing or searching the forums.
One: Regarding patching/updating the rosters/team names/stadiums etc, I've downloaded the following:
- Wolf's Xmas Patch
- Wolf's New 1.1 option file
- SuperPatch 2.0/2.1
- Pera and Leo's 3.5 meg 0.1 roster update
Despite scouring the forums, I'm not sure which to go ahead and use. Some recommend Wolf's patch and add that it requires the 1.1 option file, while others say the Superpatch 2.1 is the way to go. From reading the readme.txt files it strikes me that installing these patches is a far from simple and perhaps unreversible process so I want to get it right first time. Can anyone chip in (hoho) with recommendations etc regarding which one is the best option? Or are there others out there that are better that I haven't come across?
Two: Multiplayer - I have a 4 pc LAN here and wondered if PES3 is fully networkable. Some threads have suggested it doesn't work well without some config tweaking within the game. Any extra info here?
Three: After encountering some gamepad compatibility issues, i.e. the game won't even run with my Nostromo n45 gamepad installed, so out I went to get a Logitech Dual Analog and all's well, I'm wondering how people are finding having two USB gamepads on their system to allow 2 player games on a single system. I have a logitech single-analog wingman pad and a MS sidewinder to choose from.
Four: Does anyone know if the PES CD has any kind of copy protection? If so, what kind, etc. Not tried yet but with the kids also starting to love the game I'd like to make a back-up copy or two for safety's sake. Before anyone starts warbling about warez etc, I do own the official game.
That's it. Thanks in advance for any help.
