New to game - requesting info

Hi folks,

after enduring some years of frustration at the FIFA series' nice presentation/official licences vs. tediously simplistic gameplay I picked up PES3 last week and I must say, I'm increasingly impressed at the depth and sheer playability of this game. It's the football game that PC users have been dreaming of since day one. Aside from some undocumented and lazy hardware compatibility issues, the goofy commentary (even then, not so much worse than Fifa 04) and somewhat clunky console-ish interface, I can find no faults of consequence. However, I'm left with a couple of questions that I still can't categorically answer from browsing or searching the forums.

One: Regarding patching/updating the rosters/team names/stadiums etc, I've downloaded the following:

- Wolf's Xmas Patch
- Wolf's New 1.1 option file
- SuperPatch 2.0/2.1
- Pera and Leo's 3.5 meg 0.1 roster update

Despite scouring the forums, I'm not sure which to go ahead and use. Some recommend Wolf's patch and add that it requires the 1.1 option file, while others say the Superpatch 2.1 is the way to go. From reading the readme.txt files it strikes me that installing these patches is a far from simple and perhaps unreversible process so I want to get it right first time. Can anyone chip in (hoho) with recommendations etc regarding which one is the best option? Or are there others out there that are better that I haven't come across?

Two: Multiplayer - I have a 4 pc LAN here and wondered if PES3 is fully networkable. Some threads have suggested it doesn't work well without some config tweaking within the game. Any extra info here?

Three: After encountering some gamepad compatibility issues, i.e. the game won't even run with my Nostromo n45 gamepad installed, so out I went to get a Logitech Dual Analog and all's well, I'm wondering how people are finding having two USB gamepads on their system to allow 2 player games on a single system. I have a logitech single-analog wingman pad and a MS sidewinder to choose from.

Four: Does anyone know if the PES CD has any kind of copy protection? If so, what kind, etc. Not tried yet but with the kids also starting to love the game I'd like to make a back-up copy or two for safety's sake. Before anyone starts warbling about warez etc, I do own the official game.

That's it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, I'm new to this game too and have some questions about the real names etc...
I just wanna add to real names and the kits (for both nationals and clubs)
What's the best choice? I"m a little confuse cause there are a lot of pacthes and I dont even know If they work for the PC evrsion or PS2 or both.

Thanks a lot!

Ok... here is my big guide to the PC version of the game to any newbies which involves making a legal Backup and also patching the game which you will hear most people talking about.. Patching means putting new things over the top of old things such as real player and team names and kits and adboards... The Wolf Patch appears to do this.. To install most patches for PES3 PC you need a program called AFS Explorer and you need to explore the Data_E.AFS file to find the files you need to patch over in order for the patches to work.... As for making a backup image try using CloneCD with ClonyXXL.... You could use No CD Exe files which are NOT classed as warez.... its only illegally downloaded and shared Images of the game CD that is classed as warez... hope this clears a few things up for new guys.

Follow-up Question:

After getting Wolf's Xmas patch and all things included with it installed and working, etc, is there any further issue with now patching the game from the out-of-the-box version to either of the released Konami patches? Will is mess stuff up?

9 it should not mess up what you have already put into the game... if in doubt make backup copies of your option file and also your data_e.afs file.....

Thanks, DJ.

A further question: having created a new player in the edit mode, I'm having a lot of trouble getting him on to the roster of a club team. No difficulty in getting him onto a National team, but no way to do it if I want to add him to Arsenal, say. Help?

Posting this as a separate thread too incase it gets more views that way.

You Cannot Put Created Players Into Club Teams You Could Only Edit Players That Are Already In Club Teams!!! Sounds Stupid But Thats Just How It Is!
