well, not exactly newb, but the last PES I played was 2007 for PS2.

I'm Canadian, my fav team is Peru, and I live in Japan. I bought a PS3 a little over a month ago, and just recently bought the Japanese "Winning Eleven" version. I've been using this site for almost a week now editing in-game faces, teams, and such.

Last night I tried out online for the first time on PSN, and was disappointed for a number of factors:
1) despite the flawless connection, I can only use Japanese servers. That means I can't really communicate with my opponents.

2) I spent hours editing Peru and other south american teams, Including creating players like Claudio Pizarro and unlocking Jefferson Farfan, but the online goes back to the default lineup/formation/uniform.
What a drag! Is this the reality of online, or am I doing something wrong? I can see the logic, I guess, in that otherwise people would edit all their players to 100 and play like that.

so my questions are these:
1) is it possible to connect to a EU or NA server, and play non-Japanese opponents? If not, is it possible to play people from other areas if you know their gamertag or join a particular community?

2) is it possible to at least bring over your edited formation/uniform from offline to your online?

3) I've noticed the licenced teams (I've only been using Greece and Peru so far) have much better player movement than weaker, unlicensed, teams--EVEN IF YOU BUMP UP THEIR STATS. Is using a weaker team like Peru, Honduras, or Canada, online a futile excersise at best? I may have to learn to use a different team like Boca Juniors then.

4) Is there some thread that can explain what the little icons are on the online match menu? I have a Japanese instruction booklet and my Japanese is still too basic to understand it.

That is all. Thank you. Hope to play with some of you online.
