Yeah but the older one was also flawed, what if you didn't want to push the ball a little bit further? This is where PES and FIFA need to innovate, use the fucking L1 button, L1 button for passing and shooting, L1 button for pushing the ball a little further in order to pass or shot, problem solved.....
However, if you expect that simply directing the left analog stick in different directions without the assistance of any other button, should be enough to determine subtle touches on the ball, then you have little idea of what you're talking about.
Honestly, I'm tired of hearing the WENB guys hipping a game up, when in truth, the game is just a completely ordinary yearly tweak. Konami and EA Sports need to do more, not just improve the LOOK and FEEL of the animations, but actually improve how the animations actually work.
The classic formula of directing the left analog stick without the assistance of any other button, and the left analog stick determining countless unrelated factors such as -- the direction that the ball carrier is looking at, distance covered on the pitch (without the assistance of the sprint button), the direction in which the ball carrier runs through space, the direction of passing, the direction of shooting -- is fundamentally flawed and should have been replaced by now.
When the left analog stick determines so many different and unrelated factors without the assistance of any other button, it limits the animations that can be implemented into the game, it limits the freedom and control that you have as a gamer, it limits the player individuality, etc, etc.
