Is anyone else mad at this? Once again the Europeans get shafted. I agree the PS3 will be overpriced initially, but the Playstation is the home for PES. Why should a Playstation owner have to wait 12 months more then someone with a 360?

I don't want to start a console battle, because I'm not into that. But PES is the only game I really get excited about these days, and as the masterlord Seabass himself says 'PES is designed for the Playstation'.

Microsoft are flashing their big bucks around, and as always the end user loses out.

And you can tell I'm mad at this as I registered 2 years ago here and have mostly lurked. This is only my 5th ever post :shocking:

Microsoft brought a touch of the Abramoviches to the next-gen football market today, fashioning a deal to secure FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer's Xbox 360 exclusivity for the next 12 months.

As far as I know 12 months are the same as one year.

Nothing really new here: PES was never meant to come out on PS3 at launch. FIFA 07 has never been announced for PS3 as of today. Everyone figured out that FIFA for PS3 at launch was evident, clear. That's not the case. This is not even a deal between Microsoft and EA or Konami, just a de-facto situation that Microsoft highlighted today.

Whelp, as I said, it's official. Directly from EA PR which is specifically handling FIFA:

In regards to Microsoft's announcement of FIFA Soccer 07's next-gen exclusivity:

Letterly to find her on the pers release http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2006/aug06/08-23UmbrellaLeipzigPR.mspx :
Microsoft announced that the next generation of soccer will be available exclusively on the Xbox 360 console this year. With “FIFA 07” from Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) and “Pro Evolution Soccer 6” from Konami Digital Entertainment Inc., Xbox 360 will be the only place where gamers can enjoy next generation soccer this year.

do we read anything about 12 months?

Why are so many people hung-up about this? This argument is stupid (anyway its true home is the Nintendo) because the majority of games are multi-format now. Don't blame Microsoft, blame Sony for being incompetent and not getting their console out on time.

I doubt it's an exclusive thing, just something that happened. EA and Konami are probably better off holding off on a PS3 footy game until next year. Why rush it and release a cruddy product just for the sake of having a game? I think the reason microsoft is making a big deal out of it is to generate sales. "Why buy a PS3 and wait a year to play football? Buy a 360 and start playing PES or FIFA right away!" Nothing more than that.

according to www.evo-web.co.uk

Microsoft announced yesterday that only Xbox 360 will have next generation PES until next year. The current generation formats are unaffected for the October release.

The same is true for FIFA 07.

UPDATE: There isn't an exclusivity deal between any of the companies, it's just Microsoft's marketing spin on the situation as was happening anyway.

UPDATE 2 by Kezz: According to Konami Germany, there's no deal with Microsoft at all. Obviously there were no plans for a PS3 version of PES 6 anyway, as the PS3 is slated to launch in winter while PES traditionally comes out in autumn. So PES 7 was always meant to be the first PES making an appearance on Sony's PS3, irrespective of what Microsoft is telling us here. Nice try, though.

what ru whinging for just get it on the ps2 if u dont wana shell out for a 360. the only thing youll really be missing are the next gen graphics etc, ull still have the game though.

wwe smackdown vs raw 2007 shelved by ps3
pro evo soccer shelved by ps3 for however long

i agree all down to the ps3 launching too late and not being able to put the games together.

you have to ask yourself would you rather ps3 wated their time doing a half polished version of pro evo so it came out wen the 360 one did, or that they put it back for a year and came out with a full and proper one?

one things for sure. ps3 sure better deliver when pro evo comes out on it. then again im ditching the playstation next gen and getting the 360 so what do i care ;p

Sony did the same crap with the grand theft auto franchise with the PS2 to Microsoft

Stuff like this happens,

I'm actually quite happy with it. Means I can get an a 360 instead of a PS3, saves me a nice $200.
