Nintendo Wii U Thread aka "Things only Jonno394 cares about"

*stolen from NeoGAF*

Welcome to the next generation of gaming. Officially announced at Nintendo E3 2011 Press Conference, the Wii U is posed to take on two very different markets: the casual market and the core gamer market. This console is designed to cater to everyone. The addition of a tablet-like game pad will create a paradigm shift with asymmetric gameplay, just as its predecessor disrupted the traditional gaming market. Nintendo is positioning three pillars for Wii U: Gaming, Entertainment and Social Networking.

Credit goes to thecongressman1, Stewox, jonny_boi for the graphics and the thread.

Wii U Features

Nintendo Network is Nintendo's new online infrastructure, in the same vein as Playstation Network or XBOX Live.

It has been confirmed that the Wii U is account-based, and each player in the family will have their own account. One Wii U console can support up to 12 different accounts. Wii U will also have an eShop, that is rumored to include applications and books, in addition to the confirmed ability to download full retail games on launch day.

(not actual logo)

MiiVerse is Nintendo's proposed social network for the Wii U, that will gradually become available on Nintendo 3DS, Internet Browsers, and Smart Phones. It is also future compatible, so all future Nintendo consoles will support MiiVerse. MiiVerse is the first screen you see when you turn on the Wii U console, and it displays your household's Miis, your friends' Miis and Miis from all around the world gathering around tiles which represent the titles that you play and the titles trending globally for Wii U. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata confirmed it will take 30 minutes for your messages to be sent due to moderating, but it is unknown if this will affect messages send to people on your friends list.

Two game pads can be supported at once. A game pad and four Wii U Pro Controllers or four Wii Remotes can also be supported.

Nintendo of America has announced a Wii U Conference for Thursday, September 13, 2012, which is analogous with the Wii's prelaunch conference on September 14, 2006

Nintendo of Europe have announced a press conference for Thursday 13th at 3pm were launch details and pricing will be unveiled.

Nintendo have been doing that a lot of late, in terms of announcing games and events etc very close to their dates but tbh with theWii launch the details came ut 2 months before as well.

I'm hoping for December 7th for £229 with Nintendoland bundled in. I'd buy it.

Yeah I just noticed that for the Wii launch, which surprised me. Word of mouth worked a lot for that so they're probably anticipating the same.

I'm guessing Smash Bros won't be a launch title?

I didn't do the list, I've taken out Zelda and Smash, the rest should be launch or pre-xmas titles.

Nintendoland should be the Wii Sports of the Wii U imo, A Nintendo themepark with 12 Mii minigames based on existing nintendo properties utilising the dual touchscreen and onscreen displays. As long as it is bundled it could help replicate the wii's original success.

It's a list of games that should be available at launch, everything will become fully clear tomorrow, Black Ops 2 will probably be shown in the US press conference as well.

Brief Summary of the EU conference just held:

Mario looks brilliant. I may be tempted this year but it'll probably be next. £250 is pretty good. Reckon it'll be in as short supply as the Wii was before Christmas (the year it came out)?

I imagine so. I'm gonna go put some cash down on Saturday, and if when I buy it I hate it, I can always sell it for like £400 or something (if the supply/demand is like teh Wii)

Thieving bastard retail cunts. Prices started great but they've now raised them to 260/310 respectively on the back of the number of preorders. They better lower them before launch again.

For that zombie game, how do you aim? Is it only on the small screen? My laptop screen has a good few scratches and whatnot on it so I can't be sure. Looks awesome though, probably be a few jumpy moments with it, especially as you have to get so involved with the controls etc.

Does the Wii take long to get used to? I've only ever played the PS3 (X-Box once I think, and the Sega back in the day, as well as the Nintendo 64 around mates houses back in the day too)

Think aiming is done via traditional twin stick control (likevall other fps games).

Haven't played the Wii u so can't comment on the ease of use but i assume it will be pretty intuitive.

Three weeks until launch. Im pretty hyped, nothing beats a new console launch, and opening the box for the first time. My pre-order is still intact with Nintendoland, New Super Mario Bros. U and ZombiU
