No scripted play in PES 2011 MY ASS

Well thanks for the info. I'll try it out, because I myself do experience the AI cheating. Going through it right now in my BAL save.

I only tested it on ML, here is more info from the guy that made the patch:

... this patch will remove some of the code that decreased on demand (or before games), some of the players stats on certain situations.
The idea of this code was to balance some of the in-game situations but is wrongly implemented and causes annoying "AI "cheating-like" feeling.. (some other parts that do similar functions are not entirely removed in this patch)

Also it will fix some of the "Form Status Arrows" issues mentioned...

Next patches will include other improvements in the AI / stats and maybe we can remove some of that stupid delays/stop animations as requested.

looks like a Work In Progress to me :)

Well I played one game just now and noticed that my BAL player which has 85 body balance was able to muscle some defenders off the ball. Something that wouldn't have happened before. I don't have a very fast player, but I noticed myself outrunning one particular defender consistently which had a lower top speed rating then my dribble speed.

So I'll keep at it and see if I notice less "AI cheating." Though according to this komu guy this is the real deal!

I was going to register at komu's page but it's invite only!

Also, do you think you could make a new thread to keep us up to date about this? You know, we're kinda hijacking a thread here.

Read my thread...

I had 22 shots, 10 on goal agaisnt 0 shots....

Final score 0-0.

The AI can be a - sometimes.

I know exactly what you mean, just 1 of those games. It only occurs every now and then which is not too bad and like some people say, that's football.

Here's an example: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/match?id=301925&cc=5901

Levante vs Real Madrid. Real has 70% possession, 26 shots with 6 on target. Very similar to your stats. Final score 0-0. Every top club in reality runs into at least a couple of these games per season, games where they were heavy favourites with a ton shots and possessions but nothing seems to go right and the match ends in a goalless draw or narrow loss where the underdog only had 2 shots but took 1 of them very well.

The only way to accomplish this in a video game atm is through scripting and I like it lol because in a sense it really does emulate the emotions and situations you'd go through in reality. I like how frustrated it makes me. I like how shocked I get when I'm supposed to hammer this relegation fodder team only for nothing to go right on the pitch. I like how C. Ronaldo and Messi are not amazing every game and they do have their off games and average games from time to time. If this happened in every other match then it would be a problem but it only happens every now and then, pretty much inline with reality.

I also love how your own players forms are completely fucked in away matches but are generally good to awesome form at home. This differentiates the home and away matches, something that always felt the same in previous games. Much harder to win away from home now which is something I've been asking for a while now.

A few things I will agree on though. Shooting does feel much more random than ever, with too many light taps sailing way over the bar. The through balls down the middle from the AI happens far too frequently and as typical of Pes, the weak little guys outmuscle my players far too often and the ref still favours the AI far too much.

Stormrider -

The more I play PES 2011 the more I think that somehow they have managed to get some of the reality of what professional football is into the game... Good and bad!

Personally, I don't believe it's so much scripting as it is just the dynamics of the AI they have programmed. There is always going to be randomness in football, and sports in general, and there is also always going to be some unfairness, brutality, and frustration as a result. That being said, more challenge is still definitely needed because despite all of this it's still always too easy to win consistently.

Anyway, I want to make sure people don't get the wrong idea about me. I'm not great at the game and in ML I don't have a great squad. As I said I was able to win the english league without cheating on top player in the first season though, and that's why I think the difficulty is the biggest issue. I did sign four youth players to my squad though (Palmieri, Schmidt, Shimizu, Shwartz) and a couple of others (Jarvis and Elokobi from Wolves).

As for online is concerned I don't do great. My record is, I think, 22 - 15 - 12. Being good against the AI is very different from being good against live opponents, especially because I live in Canada and most people I know aren't interested in the game enough (or the sport) to give me a match.

Some guys are simply too arrogant to accept it happens. Just because they have not seen it. In that, they resort to questioning other people's "PES playing abilities" and just be a total smug

Perhaps it is simply you who are to ignorant to believe anything else than the fact that you lost a game because of poor defending.

I wrecked most games in the PL last season with my Liverpool side, only lost about 4 games in total. I did however, lose to Chelsea 0-1 once and I did feel like the game was cheating a little.

However, I actually realized that I was simply playing like shit that day, defending poorly and attacking without strategy.

Believe me, you're more personally affected by this game then you think - it is possible to have a bad day.

Well said that's why I always enjoy Pes, except for 2008 lol. It's always so random. Things can go very wrong when you least expect them to and things can also go right when you least expect it. I see some people complain about missing open nets. That shit really does happen. I don't have enough hands to count how many times I've seen it happen in reality in recent times. Higuain anyone? Yakubu at the World Cup? And some dude on a French team recently I can't remember exactly. Those are just the high profile ones.

Scripted or not, 100% realistic or not, all the randomness keeps the game from being mundane for me. You're also completely right, being good against the CPU has nothing to do with being good against humans, unless you're me muhaha. I know some people that really struggle at regular difficulty but they really gave me a run for my money.

Unpredictability, thats what often levels the playing field with lesser players. Some, and I stress some, good players are good on the back of being a one trick pony and expecting their opponents to play the same way. Against lesser players its often they don't know what they are going to do themselves!

That's true in real football as well. I played for many years and I can still remember that some of the most difficult matches were against teams who were stong and athletic, but had no clue about the game (unfortuantely you get a lot of that here in Canada). For example, players who run right at you like a locamotive and you are used to players being more cautious so you don't know how to defend the attack! Or players who lunge in defensively, or make unorthodox moves that you've never seen and would never expect.

I find the same thing with online, but as I get better at it the results seem to be going more and more in my favour. Sorry for the off topic.
