ok, pretend i'm 3 years old...

please explain transfer points to me... im coming along fine (+5000) until the end of the season, then all of the sudden im -9000. the difference in the amount of transfer points for all of my acquisitions do not come anywhere near totalling 14K!! please explain this to the stupid american!!

ok, im not winning or scoring much for that matter... im basically trying to get by with ties now. i gather from your quetion though that total points take into account wins and goals scored. is this right?
what im really after though, is who tranfer points work when aquiring players? if a team has a player's transfer points set at a certain value and i try to acquire him, should i set my transfer points higher or lower? how does this system work exactly?

You got it.

Losing games costs you money(transfer pts) Scoring goals and winning games gets you money.. You can make $40-60 per goal and 800-3000 per game..

I'm not sure exactly how much you lose for dropping a match, but it is always displayed in a table immediately after you head to main menu when the game's over (100-1000 I think)

Yeah transfer pts is basically money.. You want to offer more transfer and salary then what they are currently making if you want to lure them away from the club..

The number you see when you find them in a search or a nego list is the salary they are making.. If you want to know beforehand just multiply that by anything from 3-5 to get a feel for what the transfer pts are gonna be
