One complaint about the WE/PE series

I think its hands down the best football game out there.

But there is 1 thing they should really try to improve on.

Its the stifness of the game, the players and movements in the game feel very stiff.

They should try to find a way to make movement more smooth and not feel like trucks.

I agree to some extent.

The thing they really need to do is to make the animations blend better.

For example, after performing the dragback, if you want to move in any direction you should be able to do so before the entire animation is finished, since that animation feels very slow (technically you can already, but that is only 135 degrees to either backwards side).
This is true for alot of situations in the game. Some animations are just to long and it is really annoying having to watch them perform the entire thing, when you really should be able to play the ball again quite alot, or just slightly, earlier.

This is the only real complaint I have. Alot more versatility as to what moves you can string together and smoother blending of moves rather than the cluncky appearance of some of them now.

Also, I really want analog support, which would allow for pinpoint passes exactly where YOU want them over the entire pitch, changeing pace simply by leaning the stick more or less (you could jog slowly by leaning the stick halfway, walking slowly by just leaning it slighty, and running in normal pace by leaning fully). Perhaps these different animations could be taken straight from the automatic slowdown that happens if you run fully and then just release everyhting. The player will go through a series of slower and slower running animations, that could basically be mapped individually to different angles of the stick.

Also, and this is something I have thought about alot, you remove tricks and manual passes from the right analog stick (Think about it, with analog support, no need for analog passes since longpasses are analog, and you could implement a function for enableing non-search passes with the pass button (L2 + Pass for example).

This would free up the right stick for my dream thing: ball control.

Basically, the right stick could make the player change the relative position of himself to the ball. This could be very useful if you for example come running with a R-footed player on the left side of the pitch (with the goal to your forward right), and want to position your body so that you can curl the ball into the right corner with your Right instep. You then just keep pressing the left stick straight forward as if you were going to run past the left goal post, whilst tapping the stick in the direction torwards the right side of the goal. This would make the player turn to the right side of the goal, running sort of next to the ball, ready to just put the ball in to the top corner.

Also, analog shooting, where the leaning of the stick would give you some control over the trajectory. Leaning the stick fully would give you the same type shot as today, whilst leaning it less and less would make the trajectory higher and higher. This would maker it easier to attempt controlled lofted shots torwards the top corners (This would also negate the need for the L1 and R1 lob shots, freeing up those combinations for other type shots aswell, such as being able to press R1 for a outside-boot shot (since R2 "Control Shot" gives you an instep broadside shot).

Imagine running with Henry on the right side of the box, using the right stick to position his body so that he is facing towards the left side of the goal (still running straight to the touchline), then placing a lofted inwards-curling outside-boot shot into the far corner.

Also, the right stick could be used off the ball for some type of defending control (just controlling his feet for getting possession perhaps?).

And with the right stick controlling the players position relative to the ball, no need for pressing R1 or R2 to make the player stop the ball, or stop and turn to face the goal (This would be done simply by releasing the left stick (since it is analog, letting go completely would mean a full instant stop, rather than the slow stepping down in pace as it is now), and pressing the right stick to whatever direction you want to face.

The Marseille Roulette could still be performed with a 360 of the right stick, since it controls the players position to the ball. Also, tapping the stick from side to side in 90 degree angle to the player would make him tap the ball from side to side, or bodyfeint or whatever apropriate.

Anyways, sorry about this long message. :)

I think if you use the analog sticks on an X Box, It feels smoother, more natural. You can feel it all the way down in your...........nevermind.

Just use manual controls then you have more freedom to move by yourself

I am sorry, I don't understand what exactly you are referring to?

I use manual controls for everything, except the high pass option which I have set to autoaim since there is no analog support in the game. :/

I have read in the Official Guide that the manual pass rightstick has 16 directions rather than 8, but over large or even medium ranges that is not nearly accurate enough.

All platforms (Xbox, PS2, and PC aswell) has the option for analog controllers, so why no analog support? I want atleast 255 directions on the sticks, I want the slightest movement with my thumb to be of importance in the game.

Then there would be yet another level of the game you would have to train and master. And then the Long Pass Acc and Long Pass Spd would also matter alot more, since the player otherwise would occasionally chuck the ball 5-10 metres off target for a 50 metre pass. With the current 16 directions for manual pass (and 8 for :circle: lob passes), the ball is alway soff target unless the player happens to be positioned just at one of those 16 or 8 directions.

It is a precision sport, we have precision controllers... why aren't Konami making the connection?

I agree trance ive wanted full analog passing since i first played (pes3). The 360 pad is much better than the xbox pad giving you (i think) 16 directions and maybe more. It may in fact be fully analog it certainly has a lot of scope in terms of direction. The right stick idea is excellent and the relative position of the ball sounds like a logical and fairly simple adjustment to make. I actually tried to contact Konami and send these suggestions but there seems to be no contact avenue. Although i agree that Konami do an excellent job, any team which designs a game where John O'Shea is a right footer clearly needs some experienced educated and expert grass roots advice!! After all we invented the game!! Apart from those tibetan dudes who have played keep up with a feather ball for three thousand years (with breaks in between!, they're not that serene)

Every pass should be analog, the dip on long balls should be relative to your right or left stick angle, and your defending players should only foul on your command, not randomly. By the way im not a great user of tricks and skills but i found that tapping R2 then R1 in the middle of a trick allows for some leeway re-cancellation. If you havent got power patch i really recommend it.

Cheers mate
