One of the biggest things holding KONAMI and PES back.

We can talk all about gameplay, but fact is gameplay can be polished and the bugs can be removed with patches from both KONAMI later and the public. Maybe not all of them but most. The biggest problem with KONAMI and PES however is something that FIFA does great, and I think the only major advantage FIFA has besides Animations over PES. That is commentary, presentation, overview/simplicity and little things that are important in soccer and FIFA realizes and has them.

Why can't KONAMI make a HALF DECENT commentary at least in all these years. Is a more deep commentary really THAT hard to make? I don't think so, just look at 2k sports, their commentary is way ahead of fifa's which is way ahead of pes. Even the small things would go a long way, like commenting some player scored a hat trick last match, or that some player/team is currently in great form after results against xx or a win against xx by the result xx. Or commenting about players individualy , that someone is known to be a great passer or dribbler ( based on their stats ), or commenting what a great season someone is having if he has great stats. WHY IS THIS SO HARD? I DON'T GET IT?

Also there are so many things that KONAMI freaking REMOVED over the years or simply doesn't add even tho its LOGICAL and NEEDED in soccer games. Why don't we have a field overview and players on the field with ratings? Instead of simply having a list, also why don't we have more stats like succesful dribbles or how many passes a team made in a match. Also the overview for many things is made so dumb its ridicilous, why can't we view player stats individualy and get all the info we want? like pass %, succesful dribbles etc... things that many ppl would love to have because they enjoy a DEEP game as opposed to a simple one like PES.

Also some things in the game have no logic, what chooses the best 11 after a season or in a competition? because sometimes I get someone in the best 11 who has shitty rating and barely played. or WPOTY, who or what chooses that? sometimes I think its mostly based on a player's overall rating. Also why are AI teams so stupidly made? Like playing players in all the wrong positions and sometimes not even playing a star player for a final or important match... things like that frustrate the hell out of me.

I also don't get why KONAMI makes things OVERLY COMPLICATED, things that we LOVE the way they are, WHY ? Why change things we love about the game?? I mean we can all agree KONAMI made some good progress and added alot of good things in the game this year and YET on the other hand they removed or changed the things we LOVED.. how can a game ever make progress like this?? lol, who does this I mean serously in any franchise , removing things ppl love?? KONAMI is basically screwing themselfs and us by doing things like this which make no sense.

And I almost forgot, WHY DO WE STILL HAVE REBORN PLAYERS IN ML???? ABSOLUTELY NOBODY WANTS THIS, I dare anyone in the freaking WORLD admit they want this, it completely ruins the ML for me. Do KONAMI not get feedback from many years or they simply ignore it?

Some of you might not agree with a few points what to add in this post but I should remind you that these are simply examples which represent the full picture.

Im pretty sure im writing this for nothing as next year will be no different, but still I wanted to share my point of view on whats holding PES back alot and is not gameplay related.

feel free to share your views on the subject.

agreed
why take away the assisted passing system last used in pes 6,
why change the attack/Def system to select and r1/RB its stupid,
why take out the challenege section in training mode only to put it back,
JIM BEGLIN ???? why
that mode where you select 3 teams and then randomly select a team made of their players ??
why do konami keep taking away to replace with worst ideas do they not listen to the fans at all. Is the whole feedback process on those other istes a big shaam ??

I agree that the commentary could be alot better,or could even have a few different commentators to choose from.I also agree that there should be more statistics but I'm not sure about the line-ups,some players can be injured or banned so they miss games.
In truth I haven't played many games yet but I still think it is good.

I agree with you on some parts. i firsyt thing i always do is turn of commentary, it makes some how the game fake and get annoying. i would keep it on if it was more like how you say. next what i miss in pes is the stadium atmosphere. it doesnt sound real. like playing inter in a away match all you hear is supporters sing inter inter inter. and its like that with a lot of team. i noticed to that in ml the cpu dont play there best players but also noticed that they were injured or had the blue or purple arrow. and i would love to seen more stats in ml.
but i do think a lot of progress has been made. sill waiting for the game myself, but played a few matches with a friend and played the demo. and i think that as always a lot of bugs and stuff will be fixed with a few patches

Konami doesn't seem to like critism on their game aswel. I just commented on their newest youtube video: Prediciton of Napoli - Bayern Munich.

My comment:

instead of uploading new videos, start listening to what pes player got to say. There are alot of things that need to be fixed:

- aiming whn shooting; auto shot straight at keeper

- sometimes unrealistic outcomes; I simulated Ajax vs Barca Champions League, outcome: 4-6?

- retarded referees

- retarded goalkeepers

- fix the scripting for christ sake, its a football game...

After getting like 30 thumbs up they decided to remove the comment. So they DO read the comments, and they ARE aware of the problems! How gay to just ignore my comment, and the opinions of many other PES players.

I'm truly loving this game, but Konami has to listen to their fans, and change what sucks.

Agreed commentary needs a big overhaul i think i read on another thread its the same script as 2009!! It needs to be freshened up......its dry dull and boring they dont react to the whats happenin in the game!! Also as you said about the little things your spot on they would really enhance the game i love goin into the stats in football manager and having a indepth look at them but i cant see that happening! 1 little thing that bugs me is the fake names given to the players of the pes teams and in this years ml the chairmans name... just coz they're not real can they not just give them fake real names like john smith etc. instead of just random letters thrown together to symbolise a name!

Catering for the n00bs by making it such a kids game online. It really is embarrassing where this game is going.I thought they were on the right track last year making it more of a football game where body balance was king.It really is a cheap crappy arcade game online.I'm guessing the people who will enjoy online using top teams are the dick heads from last year who spammed Arshavin all match, they will fucking love this.

I agree, online is garbage, which is a shame. I tend to go Liverpool or something and I'm not a big online player because of my crap t'internet connection. But almost, every time, without fail I face Barce or Real, who just pressure abuse you out of the game and just pass it to CR7/Messi - it's just shit to be honest.

I agree that better commentary, presentation, statistics etc would improve the game but i think they are all massively secondary to the GAMEPLAY. I couldn't actually really care less about any of them.

To me FIFA always had these parts of the game better but the actual gameplay of FIFA always sucked, so the fact they had all the official licences, better presentation and commentary was irrelevant because the gameplay was always terrible.

But i think we have a sad state of affairs now where FIFA gameplay is improving and PES getting worst. Once FIFA has the equivalent or better gameplay + all the proper licences etc then what reason is there to ever buy PES?!?!

In my opinion i think maybe PES gamepaly is getting worse [or just stagnating at least anyway] because they are spending too much time pissing around changing the presentation every year and messing around with stuff like Master League etc.
I accept people like Master League but gameplay should be a priority over everything else. That way they wouldn't release a game where you play with a 99p / $/ € airflow plastic ball instead of a proper football

Yeah they need to bring realism back, and stop scripting. At times its so predictable whats going to happen next. And yeah i agree with the other posts that the commentary sucks.

Totally Agree!

But you know Konami are lazy at these things and i doubt they will do much for next years game. However if we pressure Konami, by for example a petition or some sort then i think we can get konami doing something.
None the less i think they wil do shite all besides 1 or 2 animations in the tunnel scene and thats it.

All the little annoying things are beginning to add up for me and I'm finding myself playing PES 2012 less and less. Sad to say the things that create "atmosphere" for me like excellent commentary etc are drawing me back to a certain other game.

What is clearly obvious is that within Konami there is no long term product roadmap for the evolution of the game. It is clearly developed in and planned in a chaotic fashion with no long term vision.

How hard would it be to :
(1) Establish the goal to be the number one soccer sim EVER.
(2) Put together a working group of hard core fans who have regular access to the development team.
(3) Develop a product roadmap with goals stretching out over 5 product releases.
(4) Via internet forums and the working group ENSURE features the fans like are kept in and hated features are dropped.
(5) Release BETA versions to a wider restricted fanbase NOT for the magazine PR machine to ramp up, but for EVALUATION and TEST.

I could go on....but the directionless "evolution" of this series will sadly never see it widely recognized as number 1, only amongst the hardcore fans.

Shame, shame shame.
