One on One's

I have never scored in a one on one!!! It always gets deflected for a corner or a rebound which seems to be a 90% chance for me to score from. It's really getting boring. Ways to score is either from corner kicks, crosses, rebounds, running around the goalie or chip kicks which seem to be working pretty nice this year. Konami deliberately and intentionally go out of their way to screw up something in PES every year. They just have to screw up something. Previous years it was the penalty system or crosses. Now it's the one on one's!!!

Is there a way to fix this? Overall I am enjoying the game. Can't wait for Paul's option file to start my ML.

how many games have u played? i score more 1 on 1s than i miss, with a variety of goals, if the distance is right i chip or lob the keeper, if not i slot it to one side and failing that if i get to close i will either try to dribble round him or dummy a shot and shift to one side to create some space to slot it home, keep practicing pal its all in the wrists

Dude, you're right. They fucked up this year with one on ones and crosses as well. And before the 1.02 patch, it was easy to dribble the keeper. Then they thought that.. wait, they found a way how to score. Let's think of something. Then they released 1.02. Basically, the only sure way of scoring one on ones is to simulate the shot just like the guy above me said. It works everytime, the keeper will just jump like stupid.

Good luck

What I mean by one on one's is the first time shot at goal without having to take a chip shot or running around the keeper. Usually you just put the ball in the corner or straight in the middle down the ground underneath the goaly's body. That is not possable anymore. I dont just want to run around or taking chip shots.

Griciu: Before patch 1.02, IT WAS FAR TOO EASY TO DRIBBLE THE KEEPER that it was unrealistic. Patch 1.02 fixed alot of issues in my view and it made me play the game again. So far, the game is great with the 1.02 update.

As for the 1 vs 1. Try this.
Go into the player's favorite foot to be able to place it. GET INTO A SLIGHT ANGLE (from facing the keeper dead center), favoring the player's strong boot, TAP, and I mean very lightly TAP the shot button along with a right angle direction, 90 degrees, usually they're the left or right direction, just left or right for the curl, and just before the player makes contact with the ball, press R2 or RT (x360).

Believe me, scoring 1 vs 1's is not extremely hard, it just takes time to get it right, and get the position CORRECT ;)

I suggest to try 1 vs 1's with this method in training first, just to get the basics of positioning and directions to press before attempting this into a match. :)

Thanks for the advise but it's complicated the way you explained it. I have a ps3.

What I did to improve my 1v1 skills (on PS3), was like Shaun said, train a lot! For me it helped to play free training with just 1 or to players against the keeper. Also, I played with the '3rd person' camera position for a while, so I was able to see exactly where i placed my shot. The best way is to have a right legged player shooting from the left side of the box. aim for the far corner. The trick is to shoot at the exact right moment. When the keeper is to far out, you will hit the keeper 8/10 times. If you shoot to quick, the keeper makes an easy save. In training mode, you learn to time the shot. Just do this for 30 minutes a day for a week or so. I'm convinced you will score a lot more 1v1's.

That's because IT IS COMPLICATED in the game aswell as it depends on the position of the striker to the keeper as well as your TIMING.

Trust me, go into training with no opposition players except for the keeper and train them there. You will then understand what I said better ;)

But I'll try to put it simpler.

When you're approaching the keeper, ALWAYS favour the player's favorite foot. So for example, take a right footed man, and imagine how they would curl it in real life with their right foot. Get into that position, then, TAP the square button and press either LEFT or Right on the analogue. You have to press a direction that's 90 degrees to where you want to aim (this is important, as it will curl the ball better).

So, let's take it that you're on the left side of the pitch, with a right footed player. You normally would want to place it at the bottom right corner right?
So press only down as the direction ON THE ANALOGUE after you tap the square. That way it's 90 degree to where you want to place it, in this case, the bottom right corner of the goal. DO NOT PRESS DOWN+RIGHT OR RIGHT on the analogue, press ONLY DOWN, that way it's 90 degress to where you want to place it.

Then RIGHT BEFORE THE PLAYER SHOOTS, PRESS R2 to place it with more accuracy and less power.

Trust me, it sounds like alot of work, but once you get the hang of it, it become natural. I learned this from pes 11 and it still works the same on pes 12.

Try waiting a tad longer before shooting.

Also put a little more power on it, to ensure it goes over the goalkeeper.

I dont have a problem with scoring throught lobs/chip shots infact it's the only way i can score goals when in a o1 vs 1 situation. I want variation as in previous iterations of PES as I explained in my original thread. I'll try the advice from the other posters. Thnaks
