i think your home or away is determined by your connection. If you play someone with better connection they are the home team and the host. I think this is how it is ... can anyone verify this?

As far as I know there's no host in PES 2011. It's just the connection quality between you and your opponent determines if the game is going to be lag free or not.

*the server is the host* i dont see a difference between being home or away in a quick match(besides the support of the crowd) but i have always though that "hosting the room" is better than entering somebody elses room...

No. The Konami server is definitely no host.

PES uses P2P mode in online games. That means, the faster of the 2 PCs will be the host, meaning the game code will be executed by the faster PC where as the other PC will only be receiving and sending information. This most probably also means that the faster PC will play as a home team.

The Konami servers definitely do not host games, they only provide the arena for setting up matches. If they had ever hosted games, there would be far less cheating online, as people only can cheat by throttling their incoming connections and make it look like the other PC's connection dropped and thereby earning or at least avoid losing points.

If the Konami server was hosting, they would be the neutral third party verifying if the connection really did drop, or whether only the other PC was unable to receive it.

@DivineSaint: You complain about being the away team most of the time. Could you please write your systems specifications?

If you create a match in one of the servers, you should be picked as the home team. I always am, and my internet isnt that great.

samsung r522 JS02 notebook, win7 32 bit 7mbit con.spee.

I checked out the spec for the samsung r522 JS02, it seems you have a decent notebook, but not specifically ideal for gaming. Your connection may be 7mbit, but that has nothing to do with your laptop specs.

So you hosted 4 out of 20 matches, which would suggest 80% percent of the machines you play against have better specs.

I think its a bit too high, so I think I may be wrong with this whole idea of the faster PC hosting the game.
