Online Play - Winning Eleven (USA) vs. Pro Evo (UK)

Hi guys,

I'm a displaced Scot trapped in New Mexico. In two weeks Winning Eleven comes out over here complete with online play. Do you know if online play will allow me to play my friends back home in Scotland i.e. is Winning Eleven compatible with Pro Evo? I've never played any PS2 games online, so I'm not sure how it'll work. I assume I'll have to connect to a game server - hopefully one that's available to both the UK and US based players? Can I start a game with a player directly by IP?

Thanks for any insight.

Can't wait to get online to show my silky skills :-D

I wouldn't think the games are compatible. They are different games even though they are basically the same, sort of. Best thing may be to get a copy of Pro Evo shipped out.

As for the server - I'm not sure. I always presumed we automatically got connected to the European servers through the network option in the game so I guess if you had Pro Evo you may be able to get onto the Euro servers. The WE game would, in theory, connect you to the North American servers.

As far as I'm aware you can only connect directly by IP on the PC version (or at least that was what happened in PES4).

I HIGHLY doubt pro evo and winning eleven servers are going to be on the same port. I think the servers are located in europe for pro evo and new servers will be located in North America for winning eleven.

I'm talking about for the playstation2.

I am making a decision to get PES 2007(N.A) or not. Can anyone tell me whether there are high volume of online players in North america. Thanks

I am from Toronto, Canada. Will I have serious connection problem when playing with Europe players in PES6?

I hope so, b/c I just ordered my copy of PES2007 yesterday. I've never played anything online with my PS2 so I'm curious to know what it will be like. I was thinking of getting PES6 for the PC version but my computer isn't powerful enough to handle it... too much lag. If you end up getting PES2007, let me know.

PES = Europe

WE:pES2K7 = North and South America... and Antarctica.

Online play is fairly lag free. I like it.... and yes, there are many players. Can't really comment on the quality of those players though.
