Hi folks, it just struck me the other night that pro can (and frequently has through the years) under and over rated certain players.

For the last few years I've always bought Joao Moutinho from Sporting for my midfield because he was deadly at threading the ball through the opposition, controlled the game's pace and chipped in with a few lovely goals from CMF/AMF. In short, I loved the little fella.

This year I bought him as usual and can't for the life of me recognise this new incarnation of Moutinho, who's stats and performance have almost certainly been 'rounded down' shall we say. Needless to say I've been disappointed with him and will sell him for as much as possible.

I suppose this is probably more reflective of the actual player (good player but not a top top midfielder who could be bracketed in the very top class)

Just wondered if anyone else had an former staples of their team go a bit ropey on them, much to their sorrow.

Bye Joao, you were awesome for a bit there :crymore:

Most of the great PES players I remember from previous versions are the fictional youth players (Kaiser, Shimizu, Wolf etc.), but there are one or two real ones who stick out...

Babel was a great young player before he went to Liverpool, and there was a South Korean attacker, it might even have been Lee Chung-Yong, the guy who now plays for Bolton, who was up there in that top bracket of right wingers in a few different versions. Those two either side of Tevez (who is, of course, still great, and deservedly so) was a mind-blowing attacking trio.

There was also a young Iranian right back, Dagaka, who, while not world class, was very cheap considering his ability. This was around PES 2004 I believe. It was with him that I scored my very first ever lay-it-off-and-smash-it free kick (as two-player free kicks had only just been introduced in that game) - straight into the top corner. My jaw just dropped. He's also been scaled back now. And those free kicks don't really work anymore... :(

Funny thing - if you google Dagaka, all the hits are not about the player himself, but his PES incarnation... ha ha. The poor guy must be so disappointed...

I started with Villa and I'd say Ash Young's stats aren't a reflection on his ability in real life, his crossing and free kicks in particular.

Ashley Young has been underrated by Pro Evo every single season since he's been in the game. Or, perhaps more accurately, he's been given good initial stats, but has a poor development curve, and has never grown at all. Even when he was 21 or so, he had already peaked and would not improve at all. In this game he starts with an OR in the high 70's, which is probably accurate, but I think most people would agree he will get into at least the low 80's before he peaks.

well i think ash young is very overrated in real life personally, not had him in the game though

Whether you think he'd over or underrated wasn't my point. My point was that he's clearly not peaked yet.

Having said that, Every transfer window there are rumours he'll go to a Big Four club or a Spanish Giant for at least double what Villa paid for him.

I hope they can keep hold of him at least a bit longer. Even if for no other reason that the price keeps going up every six months (like I said - not peaked yet).

It reminds me of Aissati on PES 6. He became a monster after some years of development.

Two days ago I was playing ML and the other team had Aissati as a sub. He is now just a regular player, which made me sad to be honest.

Ashley Young is a monster for me now rating 95 , all I did was to give him more skill cards now age 23 and so creative with his fire shots.

No one mentioned Mathieu in Pes before 2008? He was an incredible monster in midfield (Originally an SB left-back player but it's a waste to put him there). Free kicks, long shots, passes you name it. Definitely in my memories the num.1 great player. I got some beauty shot replays of his goals (back in old days) ;).

IRL he plays for Valencia nowadays. Now he's been downed very much and rightly so, he's not THAT good.(god) ;)

Also the dude who was talking about korean player it was Park-Chu-Young. He was very cheap and very good before, pretty much a must to buy cause his value/skills.

Also Matthew Taylor was VERY VERY good back in Pes2008 for instance, don't know where that came from :p, he's decent but not THAT good.
