Patch contents discussion

What are the most important or un-important things that a patch should contain for you? Here's my list:

1. Official kits (including boots)
2. Official club/national team badges
3. Official flags
4. Re-worked stadiums (including ad boards and paraphernalia)
5. Some sort of 'chants' patch (I love Solidus's work!)
6. Champions League music when the teams come out

As far as I'm concerned all the rest is really just a waste of time. A new intro video (who watches that?), a new title screen picture (same here!) and the rest seem quite irrelevant and should be added as small extra Ppf's so you can make a choice.

Why not spend more time trying to program in a way to have two different types of intro music for when club teams and national teams come out? Making a Ppf out of an option file seems like a waste of time aswell. I personally would prefer this to be optional as I feel that my own option file with transfer and everything unlocked is completely up to date and doesn't need changing. The shirt numbers are also usually completely messed up which they aren't on mine. I love my option file and I want the option to keep it!!! (It took me bloody long enough to get it right....10,000 wen on WE7 and then AGAIN on PES3!!)

Anyone got an opinion?

Well, the most important things IMO are original kits and chants. On second place shoes, menu music (is more important then the most people think, the default "music" is pissing me off, the music in the wedoit 3 for We6FE was nice :) ). Less important are new balls and Champions League music when the players come out, most of the time I have the intro turned off. Complete unnecessary features are new intro videos, new stadium graphics (if the stadiums were completely new, eg Millenium stadium instead of a Japanese stadium, then it would be nice) and new menu graphics.

I actually really like the stadium graphics and the Champions League music (even though I usually press start to jump skip this), but it's nice to have when I organise a little tournament at my place or when I show a dirty FIFA fan what he's missing! I missed the menu music your talking about in my first thread but I still feel that the most important is the music in the EDIT MODE. I'm usually in there a while and some good music helps!

Did someone try WEM patch last month? I think it was good! There were excellent background pictures and (pretty) good music. Reloaded patch isn´t so good in those things...

None of the above would matter toss if I didn't already have correct formations, player names, transfers, accurate stats etc. because that's the base of the game, and kits and such are just there to boost presentation. That said, they are great to look at.

Intro videos and *complete* changes of background layout are my biggest turn-offs as I only watch the new intro once and I don't want my football game to stray too far off the track when considering backgrounds.
Kits, boots, CL effects and all the things that boost presentation and make the game look and feel better/more realistic are what make a patch and what I look forward to most.

Oh, and translation, of course. :)

I still feel that formations, players names/numbers, transfers and the rest can all be done manually. It's the things that can't be done manually (i.e kits, stadiums, flags etc) that make a good patch.

Solidus Environment patch with all those great chants does a hell of a lot to lift the atmosphere of WE7/PES33 as well. I fully agree with you on the background pictures/intro video bit. What a complete waste of time!

Yep, it's not essential for a patch to have the correct formations, player names since option files specialising in it are often more reliable and accurate.
