Patches for PES5 PSP?

I'm torn between Fifa 06 and PES5 for my new psp. Fifa comes out really soon this year and it seems like a solid game, one that could give PES a run for its money. One thing thats always bothered me most is the lack of licensing in PES. Its just not the same playing with liverpool without a Carlsberg logo strewn on the jerseys. PES4 right now is perfect thanks to the efforts of many to bring authentic licensing.

So I was wondering if its possible to patch PSP PES5 like Wolf's Furry Evolution for PC or implement something like kitserver. It would make it unquestionably better than Fifa, and would kill the competition.

Yeah I was wondering how/if the PSP version could be patched... no doubt that someone will invent a re-writable UMD especially for it...

im not 100% on this but no doubt someone will produce a patch for the ps2 version of pes5 and as knoami have said that you will be able to copy your option file from one version to the other (ps2 to psp and back), once you have a patch with updated kits for your ps2 you'll easily be able to have it for your psp version. Of course you will have to buy pes5 for both ps2 and psp but hey it will be worth it!

Doesn't the PSP use dics aswell though? Therfore surely someone would be able to work out how to patch the disc eventually...

Haha, no you can NOT patch a UMD, there is no re-writable UMD, it's Sony's media, and they will not invent a rewritable UMD. There will be no UMD re-writer, either. You won't be patching any version of PSP WE/PES, and the only versions of real kits you can get will be through the options file. What alf said, is your best bet.

There is one chance of patching the game, and that would be if you had 1.50 firmware or less, the game could be ripped to someone's computer, patched, and then loaded up via memory stick. This wouldn't really take off though, because few people have 1.00 firmware, and that number is only going to get smaller. Even fewer people have a memory stick large enough to fit the entire patched game on it, and there's no guarantee that hackers will be able to get the ripped game to load via memory stick.

I was just thinking about my mate's psp, and I really don't think you will be needing the ps2 version of PES5 to patch your PSP PES5.
Gamedata from PSP games will be saved upon your Memstick, but that's also your storage for music and video's. Those files can be transferred using a standard usb cable available in every shop that sells the PSP. So, isn't it then possible to download the option file from your PSP to your computer, patch it, and then reupload it onto the PSP?

Maybe even downloadable option files become available... :)

Yeah, downloadable options files will be all over the place, and will be easy to use. I've already downloaded new save games for my PSP games, cause I'm too lazy to unlock everything myself.

So basically from the discussions I gather that we'll only be able to get 100% authenticity for the kits and transfers? If thats true it'll be sweet, cuz thats the main part of it. The balls i dont really care about and the stadiums neither. Whatabout sounds? I'd really like there to be the right chants for the clubs.

Edit: To alf, I'm not so slick with patching on PS2 but if others like Wolf make one for PC, can I still transfer the option file? i.e. instead of PS2 to PSP, PC to PSP.

not sure but i guess it will be possible as you can plug your psp straight into the pc with a usb link

That depends on whether Konami implement that option. We'll have to wait for the PC version unless Konami says something.

It's also entirely possible the Xbox 360 version could have PSP support.

yeah but how can you be so sure on all of this? Some company will probably come out with a writable UMD... How do you know? One of those companies that makes the crap control pads... Someone like Action Replay might do it so don't be such a know it all and be optimistic! The PSP has barely been out a week here...

Because it's a Sony's proprietary format, no other company can legally produce UMD's. Even if they could, you wouldn't be able to boot an unsigned UMD disc on the PSP, it wouldn't work.

It seems inevitable though, that if not other companies, sony will come out with UMD blanks. Sony will want to expand their product line to UMD players and UMD writers to increase profit$. Every form of media that has ever been commercially used has been eventually made available to the public- CD, MD, DVD. I read on the Afterdawn.com glossary about UMD, and that Sony has announced it plans to open up the format to 3rd party companies. Hopefully they'll do that in the near future, but if not, the option file idea seems pretty bright.

i thought there have been exploits using the memory stick to play games on with special loaders and roms (roms are legal if you have the original copy of the game)

Everyone's saying patching the option file, but you can't patch option file's can you. The closest you'd get with the option file would basically be like what you get with the Max Drive.

yeah when i first posted i didnt know u could run a game from a memory stick, but patching on PSP is goin to be way different from patching on PC, since theres no .bin and .cue files to edit. Definitely a possibility tho.
