So do you think it might be worth trying the Iitronics MP3 players?

I have 2 of them you see. One of them is 512 Mb and the other is 128 Mb.

If you allready have those player`s try them, if you don`t have them i sugest not to buy them just for this purpose.
I advise you tu buy some old plain usb pen drive (example: 32 or 128 MB),
they are very cheap, or even better, find somebody who will sell you an used older usb stick.
Cheers mate!

I already have them. My brother has a Proline 128 Mb USB (2.0) MP3 Player but I don't think he'd appreciate it if I tried using his MP3 player in my PS2.

I'm not looking at buying any USB pen drives to be honest with you. I might just try the MP3 players that I've already got.

I don't think it'll work though. My PS2 is around 4 years old (v4). I think I read somewhere that USB 2.0 was only introduced as a standard in 2002. That's almost a whole 12 months before I bought my PS2.

Unlikely, I know but I'll give it a shot.

EDIT: I'm having a problem downloading the CD image of the AR MAX EVO software.

The link you provided in the first post doesn't do much.

Isn't there a site where I can download the torrent for this software?

EDIT2: Never mind, just found a torrent link.

I've downloaded the AR MAX EVO software but I'm having serious problems in just getting the software to boot up properly.

I downloaded the torrent (above) and I extracted it and found that it contained 6 different RAR files and 1 NPO text file.

Ok, so now I extracted the 6 different RAR files and I get one 109 Mb ISO file. I burned onto CD-R and tried booting it up with Swap Magic 3.0.

No problems here at the moment. Now here comes the problem.

Once AR MAX EVO starts to boot up, it asks for me to put in a game disc or a DVD and at this point I can't navigate through the AR MAX EVO menu. Ok, so I put in a game disc, it recognises the game but then loads the list of game cheats that it's got stored on the CD-R. But it doesn't even load the game cheat list properly.

It just loads up a funny screen with three different game lists on top of each other from left to right. :eek:hmy:

There's obviously something that I'm doing wrong here. :(

Can anyone help?

The torrent downloads aren't very reliable.

And for some reason I can't register with the cryptbreakers forum.

Doesn't work

I tried both of my USB MP3 players with the AR MAX software and I can categorically state that it doesn't work.

This is what I did:

1. Load Swap Magic 3.0.
2. Slide open the tray, insert the AR MAX CD.
3. Slide close the tray, press :square: on the controller.

The AR MAX EVO software now boots up.

4. I chose the "My Devices" option in the AR MAX menu and promptly inserted my USB MP3 player(s).
5. I chose my Memory card as the target device.
6. I then chose "Copy to USB Device".
7. AR MAX EVO software comes up with an error. "Insufficient space on device".

This despite there being 128 Mb of free space on the flash memory.

In conclusion, it doesn't work.

I'm having trouble with booting the AIR MAX EVO software when i put it in the ps2. Downloaded it from the user mdg off the link you said "Crpytbreakers" in your first post, but when i put the cd into the ps2 it just makes the grinding noise as if it can't read the cd.

Any ideas of where i'm going wrong guys?

Right, the grinding has stopped, must have just been a bit of dust or sommit.

Anyway, now when i boot up with the cd it says please insert a playstation or playstation 2 disc. Its not modified in anyway and its one of the older style ones. Had it for ages. Think I might just buy a max drive if its gonna get any more complicated.

You need a method of playing backups/import games in order to get the software to boot up.

I use Swap Magic.

Thanks mate for trying, at least now is for certain that mp3 players do not work.

Patching without a modified PS2

Hi all

Can anyone tell me if there is a way of patching without a chipped PS2?

I've seen Action Replay Max Drive Evo on Play.com that looks like it contains software to burn your own CD?

If not, anyone know where i can go to get my PS2 chipped or slide card/flip top added?

Cheers!

To play a patched game your PS2 must be chipped or modded using the slide card of flip top lid. You can google these terms to find sites to buy them from. Or check the thread where there are links to these devices (use the Search or the Important Threads Index).

We do not discuss warez here. Find out elsewhere. My advice is to buy it.

I can uncrush the files, but my we9 says that the option file has not been loaded. What does that mean?? In maxdrive the file uncrushes and gets sent over, yet my we9 doesnt pick it up.
