PC Vs PS3

I have always liked pro evo on the ps3 it doesn't feel the same on pc for me, but after looking at all the things you can do on the pc is it better to trade in the ps3 version for the pc 1?
The ps3 updates are reasonably simple to do and the pc updates look hard to do to me, which version does everyone think is better?

Id go for pc, couldn't imagine my master league without authentic kits and badges

+1 QFT.

PS3 is all fine and good but I'll take the PC version of ANY game. Some of the mods for PES 08 are a very nice touch and do wonders for realism (like the add hoardings/face packs). Do yourself a favour, get the PC version and mod it like crazy and have fun.

PS. I play on PC with a PS2 style gamepad so I dont have to worry about controls :p

The worst that can happen is you have to re-install the game, thats it. Unlike with the 360 option file sharing that might go nutty and get you banned from live or some crap like that. And if you pay attention and read through the mods they always say "back up your data before hand" so you dont have to re-install if it goes pear shaped.

What's the spec of your PC? Processor, RAM, graphics card, operating system.

While my PC is not top of the range its easily fast enough to play PES 08 at max with no slowdowns, 60FPS @ 1280x1024 /16xAF ~ 4xAA / V-sync on. I do get pretty bad lag online atm, but im sure that will be resolved soon. I'll set about editing my sig and add in my PC specs so you can see what I have.

But yeah tell us what YOU have first, because its not good if you dont have the hardware.

Oh and make sure you get a control pad for your PC if its up to spec, because playing without one is crap. I dont know if you have one local but GAME UK has a PS2 style USB pc pad for £12.99 (IIRC). Works prefectly for me on PES and other games, so well in fact I'm getting another one shortly so I can play my M8's on this PC .

If you want a pad that will last you for years and years, get an original Sony DualShock 2 pad and a USB adaptor. Even the Logitech one didn't last as long as the DualShock I'm currently using. Those controls are top quality. It'll be a little more expensive, but I think it's worth it.

Absolutely! The touch and feel of the authentic PS2 DualShock 2 pad are also excellent.

I would advise against this. I know they are good and all, but we have to keep in mind that they are not made for PC and can be iffy on certain games and systems. It is much safer to get one designed for PC that doesnt require drivers or software to use. Not to mention cheaper. The pad I noted above is exactly the same as a PS2 pad in shape, style and feel. It is also extremely durable as it has been through A LOT of abuse in the last 2 years I have had it ( I got it for pes 4 btw). Its still working perfectly even after I have opened it up and basically mucked around inside of it to see how it was made and its internal design.

This coupled with the fact that if he is in the UK we have a load of PS2 pads that are badly made. This I know about personaly as I have broken the L and R shoulder buttons on five ps2 pads just from general use, and my pal has broken three, his brother broke two. We were not being rough or abusing the pads, the plastic under the shoulder buttons is just to weak on some PS2 pads from the first design. You end up with a pad that rattles if it vibrates or is moved and shoulder buttons that get stuck due to the broken plastic jamming them.

So best bet is the £12.99 pad that does the job, feels the same, and has no issues.

My PC specs are in my Signature. Im using XP and Vista home premium (mostly Vista). I cant find the exact pad I have on there web page, they have them in store near me though as I saw them last friday and was going to pick one up with PES but decided to get another game instead.
Here's a link to the wireless version of it though, and its only £20

If your getting a new PC make sure you get a good graphics card with it. Dont settle for a mediocre one, because there are tons of cards on the market that are good and relatively cheap so a full new system should have one as standard.

The authentic PS2 controller doesn't work in Vista so I had to get the 360 controller for Windows (wired version).

The minimum requirements for PES 2008 state 512MB, a fairly shite graphics card and a 1.4Ghz processor. To that end I'd suggest you want at least 1GB RAM, a top-end 7th series nVidia card and a 1.8Ghz dual core processor. Considering the price of RAM, processors and motherboards these days, they shouldn't be an issue. Depending on what money you have, you could go and buy a 512MB Geforce 8800GT for around £160 which is, unless playing at high resolutions with lots of AA and AF, nearly as good as an 8800GTX.
