First i want to clarify this is not meant to be a qq thread.Its just my opinion about pes 14 as i see it . Some ppl will agree with some things and some ppl are not going to like some other things.
First of all i play alot of years pes. I started with pes 5,pes 2007,2008,pes 11,pes 12,pes 13 and now pes 14.
All of them were great in their own unique way . I couldnt play due to severe lag pes8,9 and pes 10 so i cant express any opinion about them.
Pes 5 had the most free tactical design. I could make whatever tactic i d like ,individuall orders(arrow which i dont understand till today why konami took them out after a certain time point,since they could help u make fantastic things in tactical department),really high pressing, and when i say high pressing i literally mean high pressing,it had very easy to use and well woring offside trap, you could execute some really good and real strong long shots, and it had established that great gameplay that the pes series carried along the way compared to its big opponent, the fifa series. For me there was never question what to pick fifa or pes since was as close as real football is as it could be compared to the childish- in my opinion- fifa gameplay was offering.
From that point and after (pes 5) things started to change. Konami started to make changes on the gameplay sector, in order to improve realism. I loved pes 2007. It was bit more realistic than pes 5 ,you still could score anyway it could be done like real football,gameplay had great freedom still, so i got burned with it. Here i have to say that both in pes 5 and 2007 i played an average of 2.500 games per year (yup all of them in 10 mins mode heh).
Then we got to pes 2011 If i recall well this wa sthe game the individual arrows went off from tactics designing.Why. Seriously konami i have 2 def midfielders i want one of them always stay back and the other to step as 2nd striker while at the same time i want both of them to have same positioning in the formation.Anwy after not playing 2 whole years due to lagg probs i really got burned with it. I made 2 formations that helped me play fantastic football. I was playing always with Reds (Liverpool) and i remember till now 2-3 games i played against players from the top 5 of the chart that they were all playing Barca and Real Madrid beating them with really fantastic football not cause im a great player. Just cause i was able to to create some real great tactics/formations.
Pes 12 was a contiuance of PES 11 but it was somehow faster than the previous pes games. It still had a lot of flavour of the original pes gameplay flavour maybe in a bit smaller doses but you could play nice fast paced football. I liked pes11 bit more it was a bit more realistic i think as i remember it. Still in Pes 11 i scored lots of great strong longshots from distance 30 m or so not so many but still.
Pes 13 came to establish slower and more realistic gameplay. It did well up to a point. I think it was well done. I played perhaps the best football in quality termas. Imagine i played over 2000 games and stayed at high ratings by always picking my favourite team Olympiakos and delivering top quality teamwork football 1-2 continual movement on the open space possesion football etc etc playing vs 800+ rating players with barca , real,Bayern against my Olympiakos ..well u can get the picture heh. My name was BAYEVIC in pes 5 and pes13 i dont know maybe some ppl here remmember me.
And ..pes 14 hmmm.. Guys i played over 300 games till now that we are talking...after more than around 250-300 shots outside the area i hitted the crossbar around 30-35 times the rest was either saved in the v spot high and in the corner of the goalpost ofc by the keeper or they went just out... Thats a really sad thing i think.
Gameplay now.
Passing: For some weird reason konami decided to make the through pass 100%lost case. I dont mean only when u try to lob the ball to the defenders back. I mean during the build up play story. Jesus!! Am i playing fifa ???? hitting only the pass x button?wth? Are we serious?
IN ALL THE PREVIOUS PES GAMES half the time and maybe more i was using the direct pass button go from defennce to offence to build up play. Here its like im watching a fifa series game.clickie clickie sure pass pass pass the defenders stacks forwards slips and sprints and score. Congrulations KONAMI u whiel trying to make pes more realistic u made it completely UN realistic and chieldish. No freedom, no sudden upredictable things happen,what is this? Surely its not a good football game anymore. I scored till now around 500 goals and around 350 were completely ridicullous goals that i was to watch in tv in real soccer game id laugh. Exactly the opposite from what was happening in the previous pes games. Sorry for the language but SCREW the graficks ,SCREW NEW engines,if thats the result.
Guys yesterday i installed out of curiocity pes 13 and i swear i jumped out with joyce ,cause i played for 5 mintues a good soccer game where the players are actually executing a shot not 3 seconds after i press the shoot key, but 0.8 sec after i hit it.Sweet Jesus !!! Im home.
I rembered how it is to change the ball and actually score a goal with real teamwork.
I wont mention the oversimplifyed setpieces that dont need any creativity or brain usuage.
I wont even mention the fact that in pes 14 statistically speaking that from my 300 games more than 100 times i saw ppl loosing ,quiting and not loosing a single rating point,and in some occasions i lot instead despice the fact i was winning the game.GUYS want to hear something spetacular. Back in pes 5 i didnt even knew what cheating was.And a thats a sincere statement guys. Iwas 850+ rating in pes 5 and NEITHER ONCE i got cheated or cheated other ppl.
Yesterday I quitted once and for all pes 14.
My sincere hope is that Konami takes a huge turn backwards to its roots. What s these roots? Rich Gameplay,freedom, and a soccer game thats entairtaining.
Someone will ask ok m8 didnt u find anything in pes 14 thats improved? Yeah the graficks,more realistic body impacts. Be glad for them.
