PES 2009 to be best soccer sim to date

Ok here is why i believe PES 2009 will be the best soccer sim to date.

-PES 2008, I agree, seemed really rushed because Konami had to make a new code for the PS3 and so they had no time to really work on the game play as much as theyd like.

-Look at PES3 which was good but it was a new engine and then look at what Konami did to it after they tweaked it around for a year and PES4 became legendary

-Like Seabass himself said, hes got all the codes ready and hes been working on PES 2009 right after PES 2008 was released

-That means instead of building a new engine again he could just tweak this version for a whole year

-They have much more time to just do the little things with this game like address the pace, shooting, passing, graphics, etc.

-Konami is not dub theres a reason they are such a powerful company they saw this criticism of 2008 and there is no doubt in my mind that PES 2009 will address most of it and the most important ones.

p.s PLEASE stop telling me that FIFA is looking good this year.....WHY!? was FIFA 08 so amazing that we now think FIFA 09 should be too? FIFA 08 sucked ass so why the hell are we talking like FIFA 09 should be any different?

graphically, fifa was light years ahead, just poorer gameplay - I just long for the day when both companies merge, fifa graphics/licensing and pro evo engine ^_^ in my dreams eh?

as for 2009, I'm just sitting waiting quietly

I used to think FIFA had better graphics, but now that I'm wiser I can see that FIFA's graphics are abysmal, at least when looking at player models. Not 1 player on FIFA has the correct body proportions, and every model looks horrible. The ball physics are vile as well, graphically, PES is light years ahead in my opinion.

I agree.. the only reason FIFA still haves millions of customers today -is- because of the Licenses. Without the Licenses they would be nothing, and they are well aware of that.

FIFA looks great from wide cameras (from far away) -however- the closer you get to the game, the crappier it gets; Players that look like Mutants with incredibly Big Heads.. they look very disproportioned, you get the impression that they will fall on their face at any minute.

By the way, Konami should have released PES earlier in the US, not this year.. they should have done that years ago -because- that's the main market for EA, the US market.. Once US customers get a taste of Good Gameplay + good Graphics -they- won't return to FIFA.

That is, IF Konami releases PES in Europe and the US at the same time.

Fifa doesn't even come close in player models compared to PES. I don't understand how someone can say that Fifa has better graphics. It doesn't and it never did. I almost always owned Fifa and Pes and I have never said that Fifa has better graphics because it doesn't. The only thing that is pretty well done are the stadiums and the overall lighting.
OT: I agree that Pes 09 is looking awesome so far.

So true, most of the Fifa fanbase is consisted of ten year children who start the career(whatever it is called in Fifa) picking teams like Barca and Manchester United. The same ten year old children are impressed with a unrealistic trick system in which it is way too easy to pull off tricks that are done maybe twice in a whole football season and graphics where the players shine.

I disagree with the whole "If US customers would play PES, they would not return to Fifa." I have tried multiple times to convince my friends to play PES. All have tried it but none like it. The excuses are all the same. " Why is Chelsea called North London Blue....etc."

Well I happen to be in the US and haven't looked back sine about Winning Elven 5 or 6 maybe :) but your right certain people will still prefer Fifa. I have gotten some people to play PES though and they haven't looked back either :)

Pro Evo just has more depth as a game than FIFA, in my opinion. It's that simple for me - FIFA just isn't as realistic in most repects other than licenses. I'm looking forward to PES 2009 and hoping for another really good game. By the way, you're dead right in some ways lfcboy - I only played FIFA until roughly the age of twelve, and then a whole world of Pro Evo-flavoured amazingness became clear to me. It's simply better.

I'm just as excited as you guys about this game and I know this is essentially a PES site but is it really necessary to have SO many different threads saying basically the same things?

Yeah, I tend to loose a little respect for the people who say that "FIFA is better than PES".. I know it may sound childish, but whenever one of my friends (most of them actually play Football at Amateur Level) says that FIFA is better, I just feel outraged.

I just loose a little respect every time I hear such none sense -because- that just implies that they really don't understand Football that well. That said, I'm pretty sure a lot of US customers wouldn't get back to FIFA once they get to play PES.

And of course, there's always going to be an ass who will say "what's up with Chelsea, what's up with that, etc, etc..". I fail to understand How some people (grown up people) actually enjoy playing FIFA. I think FIFA is extremely diminishing as a Football Sim.

Yeah I agree completley. I have played the game my whole life and I can't understand how anyone who has played the game can think Fifa is better. Yes they have the licenses, stadiums, specfiic chants etc. which are all great btw but they don't mean anything without the gameplay. I believe in the last few versions prior to Fifa 08 you couldn't head the ball back to your keeper with your defender properly and from what I have seen so far of the Fifa videos there is nothing there that shows me that has changed.

EA Sports is still polishing a turd.. In other words, FIFA08 was probably a polished version of FIFA07 -and- FIFA09 will be a polished FIFA08. So basically, it will feel and play like FIFA.

It will be yet another boring-repetitive Arcade Game. Can we expect anything better coming from EA Sports??

^Yeah Fifa has never come close to Pes. This year the gap will continue to get wider because Pes 09 is looking too good.

in terms of GAMEPLAY and EDITING yes but in terms of Presentation, Music, and Authenticity FIFA will always win hands down.
Presentation:Fifa's presentation is good because when you go to play the game it prompts you to choose a team's kit for the background menu's which is a very nice touch. or atleast it was like this in FIFA 2004.
The best menu' that Pro Evo had were in PES5 and 6.
Pro Evolution Soccer 5 Menu
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiCTpKOHVa4
Pro Evolution Soccer 6 Menu
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_x6_SARw30
Music: Here are just SOME of the notable songs that Fifa have used over the years
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usDRWgvRDvw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oTi9n5IBXM
while as you know we have been bombarded with an endless amount of horrible songs. e.g. Song Name: Football Genre Type Rock: Football, soccer, football, soccer, football, soccer, Greatest game of all!.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNhkvmpXaog
The best songs the Pro Evolution Soccer series and Winning Eleven has EVER had were
Queen -“We Will Rock You” from the PES2 Intro
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzAmt9LBEX8
Queen -“We are the Champions” from Winning Eleven 6.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fce-1XCP4_Q
Kasabian-“Club Foot” from the PES5 Intro
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAAuFNWx7uc
Kaiser Chiefs-"Thank You Very Much" from the PES2008 Intro
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2a7QmWMaow
Though there are some lesser known notable exceptions
Spiral.2005, Phunkadelic Fantasy, Back in the 2000, Uni-Corn,
Thru Passion Salsa, Let's go crazy, Missing You, and Use Your Head,
Authenticity: This is one of the biggest reasons why some people choose to play FIFA because no editing is really required(apart from a few players i remember damien duff had brown hair on FIFA 2004.), on the other hand with Pro Evo you have to edit just about everything because of the lack of licenses.

Personally i would like to have both authenticity and gameplay an example i usually play PES4 as it's one of my favorite games in the Pro Evo series, but the experience is somewhat ruined as your stuck with the crappy default kits in that version of the game as there was no way to put text on the front of team's kits and there was no emblem and logo editor despite the fact that this was mentioned in the games manual. but if i want authenticity\gameplay i play pes2008 as the edit mode on that game allows you to add emblem and logo 's on kits which means you can get kits to bear a slight resemblance to the real thing, and despite what some people might say pes2008 gameplay is suprisingly decent when you reduceplayer's stats ahem. Lol.

finally having good background music would be a bonus as this one of the reasons why i have enjoyed the FIFA series over the years. they'v'e had quite alot of good songs on the game one of my favorites being Fifa 2003's Ms Dynamite's song - Dy-na-mi-tee.

Licenses yes. I have never said a thing about licneses. I know there's edit mode (which I miss in 2008) but it's coming back. Also as for gameplay and graphics Fifa has never been close to PES.

I love PES, my first game was a FIFA game(FIFA World Cup 2002), but since then I always bought PES games, now I ask most of you that keep criticizing FIFA:

Have you played it?

I'm not saying FIFA is better than PES in anyway(just licenses), but most people here say things, but never even played what they are criticizing.

Go PES!
