PES 2011 has the worst A.I ,ball physics and Refs of all PES's

A.I
Simple fact the A.I cannot handle rebounds especially the human controlled ones.
  1. After a rebound a lot of time your players will not even run towards the ball and worst case run away from it. Quite a few time in the opponents box the ball rebound ahead of my player for a change and my player will run towards the ball and will then keep on running pass the ball.
  2. The ball rebounds towards your goal at a slow pace , your goalie will just do nothing instead of walking and picking it up.
  3. The ball rebounds in midfield, I have my player under my control and run towards the ball, then the Konami A.I kicks in and my player starts running a way form it when I have control.
The simple fact is players do not run away from the ball unless Konami can show video evidence of real life players looking at the ball in front of them and running away

Ball Physics
You can do ball physics two ways
  1. Calculate the trajectory, spin, bounce, power and angle of deflection of where the ball goes like Kick Off (Amiga)
  2. Use a random number generator that most often benefits the CPU to select which players feet the ball will go to.
Konami chose 2. The game becomes quite boring as you know that if there is any CPU player around a rebound the ball will go to there feet. They should rename it Magnet Ball 2011.

Refs
  1. Slide tackle and get the ball first give away free-kick.
  2. Iniesta runs into the back of my player Bouba Diop, yes you guessed it I have given away a free-kick.
  3. CPU attackers can all day barge your player off the ball and give no free-kicks, while your attacker can nick the ball off there feet and give up a free-kick.
If you add swivelling camera for wide angle (Why Konami did not just add extra camera angles instead of replacing them proves the game was play tested by Muppet's with Konami's hand stuck up there arse) and you have a game that looks worst , plays worst and sound the same as all Konami have down is change the commentator but not the script.

Yet the thing that make me laugh is how all the fan-boy review sites never mentioned any of these problems. Most fan-boy sites talked about the tactic screen going from horizontal to vertical but failed to mention
  1. You can no longer give individual tactics to players.
  2. You can no longer turn on and off player cards.
  3. You no longer have 6 tactics in memory so you can copy and paste from.
  4. You can no longer copy and paste from tactics A & B to and from the main tactics.
  5. You have 1 tactic per save.
No wonder Konami don't improve the game as they know this and these sites will give them great reviews even if it looks and plays like pong.

If Konami read this site they would probably see there is already a lot of hate about the AI in this game

Valid points you make Amiga bro. This game is a fiasco. Not to mention the ML problems.
The only good thing the game has is, a passable online mode.

Indeedy, the AI in ML is a bloody shambles but PES2011 is saved by MLO which is seemingly addictive beyond reason ...but... you'll have every fan boy leaping to attention with your remarks, you'll be accused of being a 'FIFA lover' or someone who is 'yet to learn the game' ... I can't wait! :)

FIFA Lover!!

Only kidding! Seems that there are alot of issues with the game but is it really that bad? Ive played very little of it so far, awaiting a option file but I do like it, I'll admit certain things drive me mad on it and will need improving on but in all compared to 2008, 2009 and 2010 its getting better, just a shame Konami seems to have to reset the series from the days of PS1

Although far from perfect, the better you time something on pes the better it looks. If you dont use close control the ball will bounce off you, if you time a manual pass perfectly it will look good etc, if power it to much the ball will bobble slightly. The biased refs are making me want to tear my face off though, at times they do give me soft decision for some reason but I think this is another balancing act from konami.

You have to work to make pes look pretty. I always expect lot from konami and next year will be no different, ball physics and transitions between animations is something worth looking at. We also need a net editor, yes I do care about the nets what of it?

Surely the refs aren't as bad as the ones in Pes 2010? In that game if you were allowed to wield a golf club and use it to whack a player with the ball down in the box and then repeatedly beat him with it once he's on the ground right in front of the ref, he wouldn't give a penalty let alone a booking. That's how bad they were.

Not as bad as 10 but could they have got any worse?

One of the many things I like this year is you can win free kicks with clever movement and close control dribble. Its just a shame the ref is coded to give certain decisions to the AI and not to the human player.

I need to make sure of something when this goes for you, you don't complain do you? You only seem to complain when it goes against you!

it just sounds like your pissed of you got edged out of an tight game

Refs

Work's both ways, i've got away with murder on a few occasions vs the CPU but the problem is you only seem to be complaining when it happens against you!

If you add swivelling camera for wide angle (Why Konami did not just add extra camera angles instead of replacing them proves the game was play tested by Muppet's with Konami's hand stuck up there arse)

I've got use to it, i can see why it annoys people but i like how it add's a bit of challenge to the game!

I'd like the choice to edit the camera angles but then again it will open up flaws such as cutbacks etc..

and you have a game that looks worst , plays worst and sound the same as all Konami have down is change the commentator but not the script.

I think this pretty much proves my point I'll answer at the bottom

  1. You can no longer give individual tactics to players.

at first i didn't like this then when i considered people would abuse this online or abuse this in ways such as making fast players all defensive minded etc..

  1. also I'm a Arsenal fan it's adds to the individuality in that If you stick Arshavin on the wing, like in real life, naturally he just will not help Clichly and Sagna out, where as stick Eboue or Rosicky there he will drop back and defend!

It tires to force the individuality! Which in the end after what 300 plus games i really like, makes you think about what player you using.

There are some errors though like some center backs having attacking mentality etc..

[*]You can no longer turn on and off player cards.

Again i thought this was bad at first but when i considered how people online or against the AI would try to dub down the individuality by making the players play more like clones etc.. It's better for me since you really have to make a formation which suits that players cards..
[*]You no longer have 6 tactics in memory so you can copy and paste from.
[*]You can no longer copy and paste from tactics A & B to and from the main tactics.
[*]You have 1 tactic per save.

Yes, that's annoying! i don't get that! Bizarre

Most reviews PES got were shit so i don't understand that point.

now my overall point, I'm not being harsh or saying your stupid which you arent imo. Your just had a bad few days on PES and venting our frustration being super negative.

That's it!

Without a doubt the ball rebounds back to the cpu a hideous amount of times, this is where improved physics come in, a huge challenge for these developers is making the ball a separate entity in these situations, the game is coded to favour the AI with most loose balls. Sorry but it does not happen both ways, its a balancing act by konami to make the game more difficult and to also make it easier for the AI to keep possession. The good thing is I like the slide tackling system so you can at least counter this sometimes, hopefully will be looked at next year can cope with it for now even if it does induce pes rage.

Cost of PES each year £39.99 .... Cost of replacing PS3 controllers after PES rage £39.99 ... feeling of elation as you punch the air after scoring a cracking goal - with your 5th PS3 controller that week - priceless.

Thats what PES is, annoying but addictive, frustrating but then enjoyable. Its a bloody paradox!

Exactly! PES 2011 has only claimed one controller, for now at least :)

Football games are supposed to be annoying, i mean i'm still pissed and annoyed about my Arsenal on what happened last weekend! Same with PES!

Dude one person claiming this might valid your overal points...but these points are experienced by a lot of players ...So that just threw your view right out the window at 10 miles height...

What I have been saying for the past few years now is that KONAMI is scamming consumers and every year we fall for it..

They take away stuff that worked fine one year and replaces them with stuff that's crappy under the famed excuse "realism"..

We get annoyed and proof these with valid point like TS did above and next year they "fix" them and get you happy only to find out they have taken away some other good working stuff

And this has been going on for the last 3-4 years..

Bottomline is:

THEY ARE OUT OF IDEA'S TO MAKE THIS GAME MORE CHALLENGING....THEY HAVE BEEN SINCE PES5...

So they need these scams to keep it interesting..So i hope another developer comes on the market and add some competition to the so called "big 2 "

Don't be a loser and moan out your frustrations because you were fcuked up. I've seen pro who can control their defend lines very well, and you ain't one of them. Losing control is annoying but fair enough, it doesn't happen the whole game. Tell me you lost an opportunities to score or you got scored by it but there's 90min to play so don't be a sore.

Why are there incidents like Henry's hand of god or false penalty give away? Soccer is filled with these circumstances while actually becoming the beauty of it.

I nvr make any critics to PES before after 6 years of playing while experiencing the best and the worst. Every game has its own defects and you can't expect them to make a game base on customers' feedback. Every single words you mentioned only shows how idiotic and immature you are. It's not expressing your thoughts but just muttering.

An excuse of scamming custumers' money every year is the most retard thing I've ever seen about PES.

Grow up.

what about the shooting and all the gameplay scripting? It got so bad that I could tell from the 1st 10 minutes of a game if I will win or not based on how my shots are going and the types of plays in the midfield. Shooting is a joke, plain and simple, its not even the physics but simply that the shots are scripted to heep the scores low. But don't get me wrong, the ball physics are screwed up, I passed it back to my goalie yesterday (online) and loaded the meter to full, he kicked it so hard that the ball almost went into the other team's goal, I just shook my head and said WOW! From playing close to 100 games online, including 2 offline CL touraments I've come to the conclusion that this is the 2nd worst PES game after PES2008, there's something not right with the physics, player movement and overall gameplay, nevermind the lack of depth for team preparation and player attributes.

Dude I can see how frustrated you were to have posted this. I agree with most of the things you said up there, especially the part where the loose ball always ends up DIRECTLY at the feet of a cpu. But you forgot to mention this:

Whenever you dispossess a CPU player and the ball goes loose, there will almost always be another CPU player to pick up the loose ball. Konami made it this way because otherwise the CPU AI will not stand a chance against the experienced players.

I have noticed that there is alot of cheating going on with the line outs too. When you as a player having it there are usually three of your players of which the two closest to the suppose thrower on the line always having two oppositions players on the where as when it is the opposition players (CPU) line out you find that your players are placed far from the cpu players. Also most of the time I cant get a ball under control when receiving it from the thrower; it bounces about three to four times by then the cpu already made your player stumble endlessly.
