Pes 2011 is hard!

Hey all just got Pes 2011 and I love it :) I haven't played a football game on the PS3 for a good while... I used to be into Fifa didnt realy bother with Pes, but I'm glad I have now its much more realistic.

One thing though, there is soo many moves to learn and it seems to be taking me ageeees unlike Fifa... I started on Beginner and after around five or so games I was scoring ten goals plus a game lol. I have now switched to amateur and imo its ALOT harder...

Anyone else had this but after a good while it paid off?

Cheers.

Thats why I love this game, so many different things to discover, it gets better with age.

Stick at it mate you won't regret it, be prepared for some pure frustration though.

And stop being a pussy and get on top player, or at least professional;), will be happy to provide any gameplay tips if you need them.

I now and then play the Fifa 11 demo to see if I'll swap but maybe more time with Pes will pay off... I only want one of the two as I'd rather be realy good at one than average with both.

Hmmm what could I ask you lot... Oh shooting, Ive looked on Youtube at a few vids but none realy help. The best way to shoot I have found so far is to just hold circle!? The power bar is soo sensitive though!

UK _Ricky_UK, one thing with PES and it's a golden rule if you want to get anything out of the game - PATIENCE!! Many people on here, like me, didn't even begin to understand how the game works until hours and hours of practice. It's no exaggeration to say, that for me anyway, I spent around 50 hours to get to the stage where I got to on Top Player (Offline) and being comfortable with tactics/how the game works/when you can shoot, when to counter and how fast etc etc, AND EVEN THEN the game will fk you over!! But that's just PES2011. Even with my gripes and moan threads, and even though I'm playing a different version of PES as a break from PES2011, PES2011 gave me more high highs and more low lows than any other sports games I've ever played.

Just a tip on shooting, like many on here say, shooting depends on lots of factors, body position to the goal is crucial, so too is the player involved in the shot, and whether or not the player is being pressured or not. I love the shooting on PES2011, frustrating at first, but some of the goals are stunners when you get it right.

Bite the bullet, spend all your hours practicing PES, FIFA will entice you with it's stunning presentation, graphics and shiny shiny bits that most fall for, PES has always been the game that rewards you BIG TIME for the effort you put in. But be warned, be prepared to be ecstatic and frustrated within two games, this is the only game ever to leave me tamping for two whole days in which I almost put the disc in the microwave!

You have to adjust the amount of power in this game depending on the situation, shooting is more about how you position your player rather than what you do with the analog. Key things to take into account when shooting...

- Momentum of player when connecting with the ball
- Angle of player in relation to the ball
- Shot technique and accuracy stat.

Most of the time a small amount of power will do, pressing Right trigger when you release the shot button will result in a more precise angled shot and can be very effective.

Techboy I agree, the shooting is superb on this game, makes you think how you would strike the ball in real life.

100%. Just stick with it. Once you 'get it' then it's totally worth it. The first couple of times I played the demo I was like 'man this is hard' but once you get into it it's really rewarding.

I recently built a PC and decided to get pes 11 on PC.

I haven't played Fifa in a long time because I just didn't like fifa 11.
So the animations of pes 11 didn't really bother me.

Anyway as for the difficulty.

If you've just switched over to pes from ffia, it'll be hard because it's so different.

The defence in pes is more forgiving, but CLOSES YOU DOWN much, much more. So don't use the R1 button (sprint) too often.

Played individuality is the key in pes 11. Take a look at the formations too because they will have a huge impact against other teams.

As for shooting. Be sure that you're free of defenders when you shoot, because if a stronger defender is pushing you, the shot won't go as planned. Take you're time and DON'T hesitate to try shots that seem impossible especially with players that have the shooting from distance attribute.

Pes 11's shooting is actually pretty good once you get the hang of it.

Cheers fella great help :)

Here is a reality check Ricky!

You will spend decades on this game and never be able to pass or shoot as you like. You will never be able to find any good games online because of lag and lack of players...and if you do ...BARCA and REAL MADRID.

You will never be able to learn tricks ...there are not many in this game ...

Overall ..this game get worse over time ....not like the others are making you believe. :(

Who the hell spends 50 hours just learning the basics of a video game? This game will wear you down....the learning curve is just way too high ..without any reward. Passing will take you at least 80 games to realize how it works....shooting will take forrr everrr.

PES is still more or less just 8 direction movement ....see the sharp 45 and 90 degree turns? Player switch lag....mediocre ref....super players.....Messi/Ronaldo

Stick with Fifa.........you will soon realize that it is the better of both games regardless of its flaws. Beautiful animations and more realistic game play.

Do a research here ....Find the thread with the most response from fans and look at its title........

If you get bored of Fifa ....just try something else ...just not PES ...its a complete waste of time. You can never get good at it. At least you can get good at Fifa ...regardless!

You have been forewarned.

LOL @ OCKRASS - Hey, I'm no PES fanboy, by any stretch of the imagination, I have written extensive pieces on here, on evoweb, etc etc, highlighting the games flaws.

BUT

You can't be serious about FIFA? Even die hard Fifa-ites say it's a joke. I fall into this trap every now and again for my sins, I have a couple of 'bad' games on PES and think fk this I'll play FIFA for a bit - it usually takes around three minutes for me to realise what a train wreck this new FIFA is. It's ice hockey at it's best, the tackle radius is so large you could probably take the ball off someone in the six yard box from the halfway line. The goals are mundane, the players kind of float, you get the same endless boring AI attacks, no build up play just two passes from back to front, then either a cross, then a CPU headed goal.

"More realistic gameplay" - are you serious? Do you watch real football? Sometimes, I don't know if you've seen it on tele. but the opponents sometimes do something called "passing the ball back". FIFA dazzles on presentation, everything looks polished and stunning, you could take it for a game on the tv such is the detail to visuals (from afar mind you). But the gameplay is atrocious.

FIFA is miles away from being a representation of football as it's played in real life. Of course you can good at FIFA, I even won a few games on Legendary, that doesn't make the game any good, or me any good. All that shows is that if you have the patience of a nun, can play a full ninety minute match, press a combination of buttons in certain way, you can score a headed goal against a genetically modified super-human defence who can read your every moves, ten seconds before you can initiate anything. The game is appalling. Every player feels the same, you can pick a keeper up front and will score wonder goals, or Messi in defence and still do a job like Vidic. It's just fking shit.

I played FIFA World Cup, now that was a game, if they had tightened that up and made it harder I could see where you're coming from, but FIFA 2011, man where do you start.

Listen, each to their own, but PES resembles football, even with all it's bugs and glitches. PES out of the box, knocks FIFA for six. The CPU on FIFA always, ALWAYS goes forward, that's just not football. FIFA relies on the over-usage of pressure, both from the controlled player and the CPU team mate pressure button. I don't want everything automated just to make the game play okay and to get the CPU to pass the ball backwards once in a while.

Like I say, every time your bored of PES, think it's poor, having an off day, players feeling unresponsive just put FIFA in for a bit, and when Cameron Jerome scores three consecutive headers from silly laughable crosses against you, you'll calmly press eject, snap the fkin FIFA disc, and put PES back in.

The lesser of two evils - definitely.

^ I agree with you 100%. He's always the same, spamming about how great his beloved fifa is. You can't reason with people like him. Anyway, I was a pes fan back in the day, but switched over to fifa after 08 and stayed with fifa till fifa 10 because it was far better than what pes had to offer. BUT THIS YEAR Fifa 11 sucks. I CAN'T GET OVER HOW STUPID THE GAME IS, and how people call it realistic is beyond me.

So I tried pes 11 and although some things are unacceptable, pes 11 is actually a decent simulator of football. Every formation works depending on the situation, every team plays differently, IF YOU OVER USE PRESSURE WITHOUT COVERING YOU'LL GET CAUGHT AND YOU'LL CONCEDE A GOAL (fifa doesn't have this at all), oh most players play differently (in fifa ONLY THE PHYSICAL Attributes matter, strength being overrated badly).
DEPTH IS A KEYWORD MISSING IN FIFA'S GAMEPLAY.

:shocking: Wow that's a lot of words....

...but most of what you stated is partially truthful and I cannot argue.

But ...and there is a HUGE BUT ........Fifa is still miles better than PES regardless of all that you have said above.

I cannot write all the stuff that is wrong with PES here ....you will need a book. Look i was not a fan of Fifa until 09 never really played until 10 and world cup did it for me. The improvements that they have made with running animations, changing the floaty balloon ball, adding pressure........oohhhhhhh

Where do you think PES got added player pressure from?
Where do you think they got the idea of slowing down the super speed from?

Fifa hands down......by default. PES isnt even trying.

The next time you log online to play PES...maybe you can go fix yourself some bacon and eggs and be back before you connect to a single player.....meanwhile I will have played two full games in that time. :w00t

OCKRASS the point is I, and people like me, don't care which is the better game to be honest. I'm a PES fan by default, but if FIFA was better and mirrored football I'd say so. I played FIFA10 more than PES2010, liked it a lot. Played the FIFA World Cup, and loved it. PES has been awful for years, but this incarnation of FIFA is atrocious. Even with a million bugs and glitches, the gameplay of PES mirrors football better than FIFA this time round, and so I say that PES, this year is more enjoyable because it plays more like football.

At the moment I'm playing neither, I'm having a fkin fabulous time with PES6 PS2. It's got the lot.

And I don't think it's about being buddies, or backing one company over another, PES-ites against FIFA fan boys - it's about finding a good game.

This year, taking everything into account, PES is better than FIFA. PES6, is miles better than them both. Not even a contest. PES2011 out of the box is a joy but too easy, anything edited to PES totally breaks the game and renders some matches unplayable. KONAMI have to sort this shit out, because if it happens in 2012, PES is going back to the shops. And if FIFA isn't very good for 2012, that be going back to the shops, and I'll play PES6 for another year.

Most people (apart from the extreme deluded fan boys on both ends of the spectrum) just analyse the game year on year, and make an educated opinion. FIFA's pressure fest just isn't football, I don't know what it is, like I say it's some sort of hybrid of StreetFighter/MMA/with a football bombing round the screen and people running everywhere. PES, FOR ALL IT'S OTHER FAULTS, still plays the better game of football, or at least in relation to what you see on tele.

So bottom line for me, FIFA stinks like shit this year, PES is passable if you're willing to put up with certain quirky things. 2012 had better blow my fkin socks off, from both companies, KONAMI need to finally step up to the plate and release something that resembles a finished product and get rid of the ridiculous, silly scripting. FIFA needs to totally revamp it's defensive system, sort out the tackle radius, make crosses and headers far harder, and get the AI to play something that resembles football ie passing the fkin football back and sideways sometimes!!!

Peace out - for now!

Hi. I am sorry if I sounded harsh, but you have to realise that you're in a pes forum and you're consistently bashing pes 11 (without even analyzing it and saying the good things it has) and consistently saying how much better fifa 11 is without even admitting it's faults. That for me is close to a spam. ;)

I wish that this forum was a place to discuss without fanboys from both sides arguing without admitting that BOTH GAMES ARE FLAWED.

Hey, i would love to argue that Fifa is better but you clearly have played both games and like myself .....don't care much for either.

I was really expecting PES to be a spectacular game by now but i gave up a couple years ago. I have played Fifa and got really good at it but still not what i was really looking for.

I know i bullshit a lot about Fifa over Pes but i really want PES to be back where it was....for now i am playing Killzone 3, God of War 3 and recently the new CRySis 2.....which is f'ing amazing.

Footie games are no longer a big draw in my household anymore.

Sup Shaun,

Don't take me too seriously...i like to push ppls buttons. I am currently not a PES or Fifa fan....I just like making trouble.

You are correct though ...both game are flawed and only real footie players can admit it. Truthfully, I liked both games because i love football. I will buy anything with a nike, addidas or ManU sticker on it.
Fifa or PES ...i really dont care ...i play them both or rather used to.

However, i like to see the PES fan boys rip their freaking hair out when someone mentions.....FIFA is Better Than PES.......idiots :w00t

^. Anyway I agree that both games are flawed. This us unfortunately the truth.
Fifa looks like a ps3/360 with nice animations but plays really shallow
while pes has more depth overall, but FAILS in making it look like ps3/360 game, not in graphics and faces, but in the animations and stupid stuff.

But still, I was more surprised with pes this year because it did make a big effort to pull itself from the aweful state it was in, pes 10. Now it's decent enough to play and have fun. :)

But when comparing pes and fifa to games like Red dead redemption and Assassins creed, they don't even begin to compare because they're far behind. I know that they're not sports games and they're different geners, but they look, move, feel and play like a ps3/360 game. They have a working combination which is still not the case with football games.

Of course they're flawed. And they always will be. Expecting perfection is completely unreasonable, all I expect is a fun game that is somewhere near a realistic sim. With PES 2011, we have that.
