Even before starting this thread I knew there would be people who would complain about cheaters without even knowing the difference between a real cheater and a plain old quitter. I knew there would be many misjudged names in the list.
I do not have the time to go through and double check every name, I barely have enough time to update the list daily. I am updating it everyday as to motivate people to continue to report.
Please be not discouraged about the fact that not all the names on the list are cheaters. However, you can be sure that the guys with 4-5 complaints or more are definitely doing something not kosher.
Also, even if I were to clearly define what types of cheating are to be reported, I honestly doubt that people would read and adhere to the rules. There are just too many broken hearts and crushed egos for that in this thread.
i understand your points, and agree there is ambiguity over what different people constitute as cheating.
for me, there's a few different types:-
pre-game disconnect cheats
get all the way through to pre-kick off screen, so you can pick your game plan etc, then after you've pressed kick off, the stadium intro/loading screen never appears, instead a message appears saying something along the lines of unforeseen circumstances, and declares a winner. almost always the other player (weirdly happened once whereby i won, don't know if it means the other player tried to cheat and messed up or what, but it's a ratio of about 1:30 when it's gone in my favour)
(qualifying) lag-out/drop-out cheat
kick off fine, play is fine, then other player (normally after a pause in gameplay) decides that they aren't going to win, and puts in place conditions to get the game abandoned (throttling of connection, possibly using torrents or something like that to reduce communication between players to unplayable point). i call this cheating because it (more commonly) occurs during tournament qualifying, and the other player obviously decides that they *have* to qualify with 3 wins, and any game that impedes that shouldn't be allowed to finish, otherwise they may not have time to win 3 games on the spin. exceptionally frustrating when this occurs in the same tournament more than once, because no gate receipts are forthcoming, and if you are very unfortunate you might only finish two or three games in the whole qualifying time, so chances of qualifying are vastly reduced and the fee for the entry into the competition means you can end up out of pocket by half a million at least.
stadium intro/loading screen lag out
not many opt for this ploy, although Kissmyegg is perhaps the best known user of this pathetic tactic. as you press kick off button, and then the stadium intro/loading screen appears the other "player" (a term i use loosely) throttles the connection to such an extent that it appears to the honest player that the game has perhaps hung or crashed, because all they see is the green loading circle in the bottom left still looping the loop, and the usual few different camera angles of the stadium are shown, although on a seemingly never ending loop. after around 3 minutes, the game does kick off, however not many players wait that long. typically the honest joe by this time has decided something has crashed and quits the match, therefore the throttler picks up yet another forfeit win.
some cheaters are more subtle than others, although some are blatant and brash about it. for example, when i checked the standings one time in a tournament qualifying stage after i played my first match, and i was one of the first to enter the tournament, i saw one of the aforementioned cheaters already on 9 points, in just over 11 mins! needless to say, the goal difference was the usual 9 for and 0 against...
i don't know if i expect konami to do something about the players on the list here or not; ideally they would at the very least check out some players who constantly get a complaint against them, because if they were to take action against cheaters then it might deter some from choosing the dark side.
i agree wholeheartedly this needs to be majorly looked at for the next one, although i would be hugely appreciative and impressed if konami were to start tackling the cheaters now, because meeting some of them in competitions is inevitable, and basically wastes any time and effort you've put into the competition, if you reach the usual knockout stage only to get cheated out of progressing.
anyhoo, rant over, i'll get back to my cuppa
