I have played my fair amount of games since the demo has been released and have scored no more that 3 goals. It seems that the shooting has a real sensitivity this year. Has anyone been able to find a happy medium? Firing shots over the bar consistently is starting to become a bother lol.

Damn I know how that feels, Messi a few yards out with no one near him and he blasts it over the bar. The power bar does go up quick but even if you just tap it you can hit a shot into the rafters. It's a lot of trial and error I think, check your players form, are they on the purple or blue arrow? and are they using there preferred foot? If they are heavy marked or under pressure they also hit shots way off target. Hitting shots on the turn also doesn't help.

I find the trick of striking the ball well is all about timing, like in the real game if they rush the shot it's odds on favourite you won't hit it as intended. If your running with the ball don't hit shoot when the ball is far in front of you hit it as you come onto the ball, try and get a bit of space from your marker before shooting and if it's a 1st time shot from a through ball or cross a tap is all you need to keep a shot low and hard. Like in real football if a cross or pass already has power on it you don't have to hit it hard to get a powerful shot if you do you lose control of the shot. I scored a pearler with Robben from a though ball that nearly broke the net but never left the turf.

If your still having trouble, and I'm not saying your a shit player, lower the game level a bit just so you get a lot more chances in easier situations to practice your craft. I put it on beginner for a few matches to practice my shooting and the power of though balls.

The three words of the day are TIMING TIMING and TIMING.

At first i found it a nighmare, but 60 games later i thinks to easy now. Still miss a few but not many.

I can definitely see why some people are complaining about the shooting. But like the above poster said, give it a few more games. It took me a while to get the grip of the shooting mechanics but now it seems flawless. What I really like about it is that you need to calm yourself before making that final shot. So essentially, if you are on a counter attack , zig zagging through the D, in the end, you are required to compose yourself and slightly tap the shoot button. That is neat.

I play on PC myself and on the settings there is an option that says skip video playback, which you can tick, i don't know how it will work on the 360 and PS3 version.

If you're on PS3 or 360, going back to the XMB/Dashboard and then back into the game is the quickest way.

The shooting is def a lot harder on PES 2011 but I think that's a good thing. I scored about a 3rd of my goals from long range shots in PES 2010 and it was far too easy to score 25 yard screamers with fairly average players.

I like the fact you have to work at your shooting and get the timing right to get anywhere near goal.

Once you master tapping the shoot button as lightly as humanly possible you'll master it. I thought those 'pes missile' shots had dissapeared but when I lean the shooting mechanics I started to pumple valdez's goal with belters.

The amount of times I've scored a screamer and lept up fist pumping is rising all the time.

Hey, I am still struggling a bit with the shooting and have already played lots of games. I am not that good in finding out myself I guess. Is it only the power bar that makes a ball go high or low, or is it also pressing the control to a backwards direction?

Also how can I make a ball go more or less tight into the corner. When it's more tight into the corner it will be harder for the goalkeeper, and when it's less tight I will take less risk of missing. Also the manual says pressing RT before shooting gives a 'concentrated' shot. Still don't notice the difference all too much.

U can only perform a real hard shot if u have the space for it. By that I mean the space to make a few meters in the firection of the goal.

Shooting when ur not facing the goal is veryyy hard... Only a lil tap can make the ball reach the target. More than a tap will make it go over... Players with high shooting acc. van have a lil more than a tap.

And placed shot is very helpful as always... R2/RT

Essentially, the power bar is now pointless, because anything more than a tap will see the lovechild of the Jabulani and a supermarket plastic ball balloon and go nowhere near the goal.

The power bar is far from pointless, the amount of power needed depends on the situation. The new shooting system is designed to make you think like you would when playing for real. 20% power for example will offer a different velocity depending on a number of factors(ie pressure from AI, stats, momentum, angle of approach).

Its crucial to look at the position of your player and the ball when taking a shot, if you want more of an angle cut in slightly or push up on the analog, this will also result in more curve for players with high stats. You an also achieve a harder shot by pushing harder on the analog, push forward in the desired direction and the ball will travel with more venom. The shooting is very contextual so its hard to explain what to do, its something you just feel in time and the variation you can achieve is better than any pes game before.
