I still play Pro 5 now! Everyone, if you have Pro 5 and PES 2008, play a 10 minute match on PES 2008 and then go back to Pro 5, it feels so much better trust me.

From the videos alone without going back and playing them all, I'd say 2009. PES5 was just a little bit too slow for my tastes, whilst PES 2009 keeps the game in the spirit of five but with a slightly higher tempo.

That's what i think anyway. And I reckon it'll be even closer to PES 5 then that when againt AI or a good human opponent, the defence in that gameplay video isn't great at all.

To me Pes 2009 seems like a mixture of both Pes 6 and 2008. It just doesn't have that realistic game play Pes 5 had. The AI from what I've seen in the videos still has some problems but not as bad as Pes 2008. It not that excited by this new Pes, I just have to wait and see what happens.

i know i am in the minority but i hated pes 5 because of the fouls every 5 seconds and the lack of goals. it took me until the following september to realise that i had to change my style of play in order to be any good at it as i liked attacking football but pes 5 encouraged slow build up play. when pes 6 came out i was so happy and i am still playing the ps2 version on the ps3. suppose it's just like marmite you either loved 5 or hated it

I haven';t played pes 09 so I'm not gonna judge.
So far pes 5 was the best. But from the videos, Pes 2009 looks better.

I have to say I prefer PES5 as well, at least PES09 is slower than PES08, pity though that it still is much quicker than PES5

Yeah it does look good doesn't it, I know the gameplay is going to be great, I just hope and pray Konami doesn't drop the ball with the edit mode

All i can say is that, we have been playing the game for many years now. With goods and Bads in every version. This year is not different. Keep in mind this is the old enigne, which means you can't put everything in it. Let's hope Seabass dumps this Engine and we will see something new next year. I don't mind playing the game 5 years in a row, but i don't think i can enjoy it longer than that.

^ Totally agreed there. The PES engine is great, but it needs a new injection of life pretty urgently.

i would like to see the game go back to the feeling of the ps2 games such as 5 and 6, this was when pes was a real brilliant football simulation. pes 08 shouldnt even be mentioned

Completely agree.. Konami needs a New Engine capable of finally bringing the players to life. The movements in PES09 are dull and mechanic, it isn't what I expected from a Next Gen Football Sim.

Anyways, thing is that Konami needs a New Engine and a New Game -because- fans and magazines are becoming Intolerant of the same game year after year.

Konami needs to Elaborate on the things they got right in PES5; the balance between Defenders and Attackers, the Differences between players, the Pace of the game, etc, etc..

In order to Elaborate on the Feeling of Individualism, on the Differences between players -they- will need to come up with a better system of Stats and Special Abilities. The FACT that they are still using the same exact Stats and Special Abilities in PES09 is underwhelming to say the least.

More Stats and Special Abilities -should- give way to a more Realistic game -because- we would have more Defined Differences between players; between Attacking Mids and Defensive mids, Center Backs and Wing Backs, Strikers and Second Strikers, Playmakers and Second Strikers, etc, etc..

At the end of the day, Football remains a collective game -where- Different players that Specialize in Different Positions -work- together as a Unit. If all the players feel more or less the same -then- consequently, the game will feel and play Cheaply.

That's the Main problem with FIFA, every player feels the same -and- that Ruins the whole game.

We need to start seeing an effort to take that Feeling of Individualism and Differences further.

The other thing that needs to Improve Dramatically are the Animations and Movements. The Movements in PES09 are dull and Mechanic, this is not what I expected from a Next Gen Football Sim.

This is where Next Gen Consoles should be showing off.. Realistic Animations and Movements will add a whole New Dimension to the Gameplay. Players need to "Look" and "Feel" as though they are Dribbling with a Ball.

The 4 Types of Movements we had in PES5, PES6 and all the other Versions.. that System should be Replaced by a Next Gen System, a system that instead of giving us just some 4 Variations of Movements -gives- us some 20 Variations of Movements.

Bottom Line is that If PES 2010 haves the same Old Engine, the same Unrealistic Movements, the same Stats and Special Abilities, the same Old Flaws.. if that's the case with PES 2010 -then- I do Not see myself wasting money on PES 2010.

Not because I don't have the money -but- just so they get the message, I'm bored of the same Old game, I want the Next Gen Version.

I get a feeling that Konami has been working on a New Engine for the past year -and- that PES09 is just the game to get us there.. Will PES 2010 finally offer something New??

Firstly, not many of us can compare to PES 2009 because we haven't had the opportunity to play it. Secondly, I think it's not fair to compair PS2 with next gen. consoles. So, I chose PES 2009 because I'm hopeful:ninja:
