PES Covers - Good or Bad?

I'm not sure if this is in the right area but here goes.

Does anybody remember this?

I think this was possibly the best front cover that Konami had come up with for their ISS Pro/Pro Evolution franchise. I'd much rather see a couple of players squaring up to each other than seeing this:

Whats Konami playing at? Don't they know that "pretty covers" attract a bigger audience. I mean look at a few of the covers that came after ISS Pro 98.

ISS Pro Evolution:

ISS Pro Evolution 2:

Pro Evolution Soccer:

Pro Evolution Soccer 2:

Pro Evolution Soccer 3:

Is it just me or do all the other covers lack conviction? A cover similiar to that of ISS Pro 98 would do very nicely indeed for PES5.

What is everyone elses views on this?

I must say the PES4 cover has grown on me. I hated it at first though. It's still very very poor compared with the FIFA 2005 cover.

I like the pe4 cover i have the same view as hitman. I hated it at first though it has grown on me. but the cover doesnt really bother me anyway.

i think the earlier pro evo covers were probably meant to be symbolic of the fact it's about football, not which star they've hired to be on the box (or symbolic of how little money Konami spent on advertising!)....
i guess these could be used as an analagy for the games, FIFA has a nice cover but nothing good on the inside...whereas PES might look a bit plain but where it counts it's all good!

To be honest the cover means nothing to me. It could be a picture drawn by a five year old of 2 stickmen kicking a ball. With PES5 written in illuminious orange for all I care. It's what's inside that count's. After I've took the game out the box get's lost forever in the shithole i call my bedroom.

i reckon konami should run a comp to design a new cover? maybe the winner can have their face on the cover? that would be cool. Billes - you could draw your stickman then mate! On this, what would ppl like to c on the front cover?

Konami sucks big time in lay-out for PES, and always has.

It needs a sort of official atmosphere, like Fifa.
But therefore they better get all licences...

BELIEVE
that ISS Pro Evolution 2 cover is the best but i didnt really like the game..
its technically not part of the Pro Evo family tree is it.

Fifa covers usually look the same(a few worldstars, sometimes 3 , sometimes 1)
A Fifa-Konami collaboration would be great, Konami delivers player animations, gameplay and player stats, while EA spends the dollars on marketing, soundtrack and a fancy cover.

Agreed. That ISS Pro 98 cover was the best of a bad bunch. Konami seem to specialise in presenting a great game in a rather amateurish way.
