PES creator would "seriously" consider FIFA engine

PES creator Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka said he'd "seriously" think about using EA's FIFA engine, if the company offered Konami the chance to use.

"I would think about it really seriously because I still believe that EA's engine and animation is really superb, very good," he said in an interview with CVG.

It's all hypothetical of course, but does open up the opportunity for Takatsuka to complement EA's tech...

"The modelling of the characters is perhaps not really to my taste actually, so I might not take that part, but seriously I think their engine and their motion style is really great," Seabass added.

Whilst on the subject of FIFA, the PES creator said he was glad that hardcore fans know that Konami got the stat-based "Become a Legend" mode first, which is now one of the boasted features in FIFA 09.

"That's one of my biggest regrets that we didn't get the Fantasista mode [from Japanese version Winning Eleven] into PES and introduced to Europe," he said. "However you do encourage me and it's good that people like yourselves know that our Fantasista mode was earlier than FIFA's Become a Legend."

He's right about the player models. Thougn strange for him to be saying things like this in the same week his game is released....

if you read the article, it says he likes the visuals on fifa...

not physics or controls... man, I'll take virtua soccer 1995 grafix and plays like winning elevn, to a game that looks like the real thing, but plays like fifa...

yeah think he just means the animations etc! as PES 2009's pre game animations are the same as last years! sure he will use the PES gameplay with it! but using EA's engine must mean a merge! hope not! EA's killing off all compertition and u need healthy compertition to better gaming!

maybe he is confessing he cannot make PES any better visually!!

when i first read that i thought " why is he brown nosing fifa " but end of the day. He couldn't really just slam fifa and be disrespectful could he?

If the creator of fifa was asked if he would accept Pes's Engine, i think he would of hit out with a similar answer.

I think that's good, it shows that Seabass wants to improved on the Animations -wich- is the Main Disappointment with the PES09 Demo.

If PES09 had better animations than FIFA, no one would be praising FIFA09 as the better game.
