I think all you morons should listen to the music, that iss is dead and so is this forum, I mean after playing the pathetic excuse for a football game that is pes 2 I just walked away laughing, I mean whatever happened to realism konami?? I never thought it could go further down hill after pes but it seems this has managed it. I mean honestly it has become a complete joke the whole game is bulit around pace and dribbling the use of the through ball is now useless as the power of the strikers is now completely out of control.  :p :D

A bit harsh there weren't ya? I mean, it's still the best footy game on any console ever! Of course there are problems that need to be ironed out but the fact remains that it is very, very good fun to play. As for the strikers being out of control, the only thing that annoys me is the fact that you can usually hang around outside the penalty box for quite a while without getting the ball taken off you. Now that is wrong, try that in real life and see where it gets you!

Say for arguments sake that I am playing with Man U and I have Van Nilsterooy and Forlan up front. No matter how good these strikers are, if they have a downwards pointing purple or blue arrow they will have real trouble scoring. If your playing on level 5 that is? It all depends on which team your playing as well. Roberto Carlos won't let you hold on to the ball any longer than need be!! He gives my Beckham hell down that right flank:mad:

Anyway, try and be a liitle more constructive with your critisisms. It would be interesting to hear your opinion on Fifa 2003 and This is Football 2003 just for the record.

Harsh maybe but it has just pissed me off to see the best football game series go downhill so badly.... It maybe the best but there is absolutley zero competition in this field, I dont find it very fun to play just plain frustrating, The amount of times you conceced goal through no fault of your own just by a dodgy computer decisions in a 50-50, The defending has been completely oblitrated in this game the defenders never seem to take on any type of structure and the marking is just plain awful... I grow weary of the 6-4 5-6 7-9 score lines, The whole game is bulit around the pace of players and no-one seems to be individual enough anymore, All players seem to be capable of taking it around 5 players and slicing the ball into the top corner. At one point this game was about the passing and trying to feed strikers via through balls but in this version every thing is about pace and dribbling and due to this you only have to string very few passes together in order to get a goal scoring oppotunity. I think konami are obviously trying attract a younger action hungry audience with this one. It may move like a dream but it doesnt play like one...

Yes, I fully agree with your point about the defenders having little or no structure. They just don't close people down. I also agree with you when you say that the players aren't individual enough. It seems that Konami has limited the players individualism to how they move and celebrate goals and forgotten to include their playing styles. But I can't understand how you are getting 6 - 5 scorelines. Is this when you play against a mate or against the CPU? I find that I often play great games that finish 1-0 or something like that. It may just be that your a better player than me, but I rank myself as one of the best:eek: .

I also agree with you that sometimes (and I stress sometimes )it only takes 3 or 4 passes to arrive outside of the penalty box in primo shooting position. But most of the time it really does pay off to spread the ball around and switch it from wing to wing and build up an attack.

Have you noticed that crossing the ball is a lot more ineffective in PES2 than ISSProEvo and PES1? The same with through balls? I think this should be addressed in PES3 along with a few graphical and license problems.

:)

Holmes666 not to be the WE6FE salesman but most people that are unhappy with pes2 have switched to we6fe, and seems much more satisfied. That's just my suggestion, or you could always go back to pes (that's what some have done anyway) :)

i guess i can understand some of your points... but its still a fact that pes2 is a step forward from pes. and like wise we6fe is a step forward from pes2. in my opinion pes2 is much more orinated towards multi-player games. i dont agree with what you say about the big scorelines, me and my mate who always play nearly have close 2-1 type scores everytime now. i find defending on pes2 pretty straight forward now, you just gotta try and stay on your feet instead of jumping into tackles and i seem to do well.

Couldn't agree more about the defending hitman. It's more a case of backing off a bit and trying to guess where the next pass is going to go. Sometimes it's better to block all of the attacking teams pass possibilities by simply trying to intercept with your defenders than just try and slide in (which worked a little too well in PES!)

It doesn't change the fact that the defenders are somewhat spread out at times and impossible to control, but that happens a lot in realife! England vs Australia ring a bell?:(

A fact?! In my book, PES2 can't even compare to PES1. I think PES1 is the greatest football game I've ever tried. I'm having a hard time seeing how it could have been a step down from the earlier titles.

IMO this is not even close to the truth. PES2 is for me a HUGE step back with it's appauling AI and arcade feel. You are now able to pass to anyone with any resonable amount of speed and just run padt defenders before easily slotting the ball in the back of the net

The AI is appauling all over the pitch even including changing players. You just about to intercept the ball or tackle someone and they pick this moment to change player to someone who has not effect on the situation. I also am appauled at some of the bugs or bad game making that have been implemented into the game. Like when you get a freekick in the middle of the pitch. You press X to pass it to someone and they think it's better to pass it to the opposition who is 5 meters in front < What player would do that.

Another one that pisses me off is when you get a freekick outsite the area. The computer/mate has a show and just at random the wall won't jump trying to block the ball but just watch it sail into the back of the net.

What team in the world would do this and think this is smart?

Homer666 i agree with everything you have said and i am sad to say this game has gone to the gutter :(

Whos cares about the lisencing if the game isn't right in the first place! Konami get it sorted!

I've got a suggestion for Konami and PES3.........
........Make the game realistic like you advertise!

I agree that Pes2 is about dribbling and pace of the players. I think they should keep this feature but only for players who can really do it eg. Giggs, Carlos
Here is a typical game i have regularly with my friend:
Man U(me) v Real Madrid(him)
1st Minute: Raul gets the ball off the Kick-off and takes it past Scholes. He dribbles past Keane, and then past Giggs. He then faces up to 4 Man Utd defenders, but SOMEHOW manages to easily weave in and out of them before taking the ball past the helpless Barthez and rolling it gently over the goalline. 1-0.

P.S. This happens every time either Raul, Carlos, Guti, Zidane (or Casillas for that matter) or anyone else get the ball.

Hold down square when the freekick is being taken and the wall jumps up...
