PES vs FIFA *for PC*

Before 2009, in my opinion this debate isn't much of one at all - PES 6 is the finest football game of all time for PC.

But this year things get more interesting. I am playing FIFA 09 for PC and I must say I am very impressed. Mouse controls are definitely very innovative (PES 2009 for PC doesn't have mouse, does it?). I really liked PES 2008 for Wii and I'm glad the concept has been brought to the PC. FIFA 09 graphics are, if not truly next-gen, at least no longer PS2 ports. Animations are superb. The game feels real - yes, more real than PES 6. PES 6 is a FANTASTIC game, but it's a game, in comparison FIFA 09 feels like a true simulation of a sport. I have dabbled in the PES 2009 PC demo but to be honest it just felt like PES 2008. Am I missing something?

Is Konami going to demonstrate that they still care about the PC gamers like EA Sports did this year? Or will PES 2009 be more of the same?

KEEPING IN MIND we are talking about PC only!

Yeah the demo for FIFA09 on the PC is terrible. Doesn't seem any different to FIFA07. The graphics have improved and the mouse control is an excellent idea which I enjoyed using but the gameplay is still the same crap as the last gen FIFAs. Apparently a different team developed the PC version so that's why it hasn't moved on like the PS3/X360 versions. Pity they didn't get their fingers out their arse and make the PC version better than the console versions with the superior PC hardware.

On the strength of the demo, I actually bought FIFA this year. Huge mistake it turns out. I play the PES demo far more than FIFA, simply becuase I cant do with many of the bugs and flaws it has. For example, the ball going actually through the crossbar, static players at corners, the dribbling being horrible, and the emphasis on tricks, even at League 1 and 2 level. You dont see people having to do stepovers at Leyton Orient vs Huddersfield to beat a man, its absurd.

The more you play of it the more it comes down to the fact it is still the old engine which powered the former games, its just got a lick of paint.

I'm sticking FIFA on Ebay and PES is pre-ordered.
