Sterling footy action but the lack of new ideas is starting to grate

i know what they mean, however a but load of new animations would soon freshen the pes games up

I think they gave Pro Evo 80% - they praised how it was a good first proper attempt on a next gen console, but it was more of an evoluton than a radical change.

PES 08 got 86 % last year, just 2 percent less than this years. Please dont throw random numbers out, do some research before making false claims.

i think fifa 09 will be a good game but it will get boring like usual pes games start to get boring couple weeks before the new release so thats pretty durable

Who gives a shit who wins betwee PES and FIFA?!

I played pes 08 and it was shit, period.

whether or not pes09 "beats" fifa 09 doesnt mean the game is a fantastic improvement, especially in comparison to the iterations that came before...

~Until konami get their thumbs out their asses im not going to be suckered by any reviews or head to heads...

put a stupid guy and a donkey up against each other in a maths test, clearly the stupid guys going to win... deosnt make him smart though does it?

Great review.. PES09 will be the 1st Football Sim with both Graphics and Gameplay -but- Obviously, Konami cannot keep this up.. We've seen Enough "Evolution" -maybe- it's Time to "Revolutionize" the Series.

Anyways, I liked that Gifted Players will be able to Dribble -while- players with Average Technique will Not. This Feeling of Individualism was kind of Lost after PES5.

I think that's an Essential factor of PES -because- Football is a Collective game, it is a Team game -and- the More Differences the better, it makes the game "Feel" more like Football because we are kind of Obligated into playing the Collective game.

Meaning that, maybe Patrick Vieira and Makelele are good at Defending -whereas- Ronaldinho is a very gifted player, but Mediocre Defender.. This would force us into playing Realistically.

Such Elemental Differences are what made PES5 such a great game -and- PES09 seems to have gone back to that Time.

Add to that a Few New Features such as "Chipped Passes" and a few others -and- we have The 1st Football Sim with both Graphics and Gameplay. Possibly The best Football Title to date.

I quite liked that review. It was subjective and he didnt sugar-coat the fact that KONAMI aren't evolving enough. It would be interesting to see what the people at PLAY magazine are going to rate it. They have been harsh on PES since PES3 if I'm not mistaken.

i still can't understand why people are so optimistic about this review. After the optimism tht surrounded pes2008 (me being part of that) and the disappointment that i caused, i dont understand why people are so excited this year. Essentially it is the same game now as on ps2 3 years ago according to the reviews, ive heard nothing about new techniques, the techniques are apparantly still animated, no little added gameplay aspects apart from visual shirt pulling and diving. dont get me wronbg these are good but 2 extra features in 2 years really isnt enough. I cant believe we are going to accept konami bringing out pes5 on next gen. . . . . . yes it was the best but i have seen that last years fifa scored 60% in psm3 and this year i think it got 83%. now i know it has a lot more room to improve than pes but im sorry its just not improving enough. i used to look 4ward to the new pro for all the things that used to be added techinques, skills, animations like figos running. now im gonna buy the same ol pes game and play it half heartedly until the new one. . . . . luckily konami get away with it cos fifas poor

You dont have to except anything mate. If YOU don't like it YOU don't buy it, easy as. However, don't expect everyone else to be or do the same.

I myself would love to stay away from PES or play FIFA instead but it doesn't fill the void in my gaming needs.

In my opinion PES1and2 where piss poor rehashes of the WE series and ISS back in the day. Don't expect to fall in love with a brand new footy game every year but expect to play the best there is.
