I will be entering, hopefully i will do better than the first round, where I went out on penalties. When my friend won the regional though, he got pretty lucky. I think you have to have a bit of luck.

Yep, especially in 5 minute matches. They don't reflect the better player - mostly it's the luckier player.

They were using those crappy GAME booths with the controllers fixed in place, really uncomfortable and the other player kept looking what i was pressing on the shoot out.

I hate fixed controllers in the shops!
Like you say, it's unfair cos the person next to you can see what your doing. Crap set-up!

Try this:
Use the left stick to choose direction for penalties. Cover it with your left thumb whihc is hidden under your left hand.
Then block his view with your right hand so he can't seen anything.

Maybe that will work!

I think most of us should have a good chance at progressing through to the regional finals if we all play we7!

This other guy was coverin up his controller, he had it all worked out. I will never forget Kluivert though for missing a sitter in that game (I was playing as Holland). That's why I'm desperate to get WE7, so I can practice and so it won't go to penalties.

Check out this link - its about my mate winning the regionals. You can see me in the background in one of the pics where he is celebrating!

What teams will everyone be using? It'll almost definitely be internationals, but I doubt France will be as good in this one.

Sounds like it was good. Unlucky you lost out to a cheating bugger. Be more tactical this time! I think France are great again, as they should be. Brazil might be useful too.
I'll stick to playing with England if possible.

I read the story for the PES2 competition.

"Earlier "Psycho" Sam, who annoyed many opponents in Nottingham with his aggressive tactics (he had nine players send off in five games), had finished last in the group stage following three straight defeats including a 3-0 thrashing from David Sefah."

Glad that Sam the dirty fouling, time waster finished last!

I know 2 people who have played against David Sefah (the national PES2 champion) recently - they've both beaten him and I've beaten them both! But then again I have lost to them both too and they've both lost to him so the scales change again! Hopefully I'll play him sometime and be able to give him a good match.

Pro Evolution Soccer 3: The League

Konami of Europe, GAME and Dennis Publishing expand hugely successful pre-release partnership in run up to November launch

As Konami of Europe ramps up for the November release of its eagerly-awaited Pro Evolution Soccer 3 title for PlayStation 2, the publisher has announced it is to again team up with retail giant GAME and Computer and Video Games Magazine for a second, UK-wide Pro Evolution Soccer promotion.

The trio previously joined forces last year for the phenomenally successful National Pro Evolution Soccer 2 Championship, wherein consumers pre-ordering Pro Evolution Soccer 2 were given a demo version that entitled them to enter a competition to find the greatest PES2 player. Heats were held in GAME stores across the country, with East London’s David Sefah emerging as the winner in the final held at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge.

Following its success, Konami, GAME and CVG have devised a larger and far-reaching follow-up, and The Pro Evolution Soccer 3 National League will begin from September 19th. From this date, visitors to any of 66 GAME stores will be able to pre-order Pro Evolution Soccer 3 for £1.99 (and is redeemable against the price of the full game) and will receive an exclusive playable demo of what is being hailed as the definitive football game for any system. On playing the demo and winning a match, players will receive a special code that can be entered at participating GAME stores or via www.pesleague.co.uk. The best players will then be selected and entered into a special PES3 National League, where they will be put into individual leagues against rival players with matches to be played in chosen GAME centres nationwide.

Matches will be played from the beginning of November through to June, with the ultimate champion walking away with a number of very special football and video game-related prizes. “We were extremely pleased with the reception given to last year’s tournament, and see the National League as the way forward in spreading word about Pro Evolution Soccer 3,” said Jon Murphy, UK Marketing and PR Manager for Konami. “The game enjoys a huge fan base and we see this as a means or organising a proper competitive league and spreading word of mouth about one of our key releases.”

Said Lisa Artemis, PR Executive for GAME: “Interest in Pro Evolution Soccer 3 is already high, and this is the perfect way for people to play the game well in advance of launch. The previous tournament was a huge success and saw GAME branches packed with people out to prove they were the best players. Making it bigger and better is the natural progression and we are anticipating an even greater success than last year.”

The tournament will be heavily flagged in GAME stores and will also be advertised in Dennis Publishing’s Maxim and CVG titles, and will be supported by a wealth of POS and prizes for initial entrants and winners.

I wasn't glad that he finished last, seeing as he's my best mate! There was nothing wrong with his tactics really, you would have thought if the opposition was that good then they would have made use of the usual three man advantage! However, that won't work this time, as apparently you can have more than three players sent off.

The guy who won it last year was really skillful, but it may be more balanced this year becuase it runs over 6 months.

Did anyone else here enter last year?

In a 5-minute match? I would think there would be a marginal advantage but, really, not much.

I think that if 5 players get sent off, then the match is called off and the team with more players is awarded a 3-0 win. Wouldn't like to see this happen in the competition though.

I don't agree with dirty tactics, is the reason I said what I did about your friend. No offence intended but I think everyone should try to play good football. He got found out in the final stage so hopefully he will improve his game rather than playing dirty. Dribbling in the corner of the pitch to waste time??!?!?

Yeah, I didn't mean any offence either, sorry. I didn't like his tactics either, especially when I was practising against him all the time and he kept fouling me! But even in real football the players run it to the corner. Still, the best player won in the end anyway.

Well there's no danger of it happening again if what Zygalski says is true. I certainately won't be playing like that.

P.s. Zygalski I sent u an email.

Last time the demo was England (you) V Brazil. You played the first half of a 5 minute match. Scores of over 2-0 were considered good. 3-0 probably meant you went through to the next round (*in most cases).
But Brazil played on Red form arrows and
England on green.

After that I think you can choose your team. Nickdrinkwater should be able to help us out with more details here.

Last year, I got the demo disk without pre-ordering. But even if you do pre-order at Game, it doesn't mean you have to go back and buy the game. Just do it to get the demo and run off laughing like a maniac!
mwahh-hah-hah-hah!! :D

I got through to the regionals with a 2-0 win in the demo, so that will maybe be enough again.

I registered my score in Game, and they wrote to me with the details. I think the regionals were in October half term, and you had to take your invite with you, and say your name at the door to get in.

It was a pretty good evening, there were free drinks and snacks, and everyone one got a goody bag, with some free games and magazines. Only becuase I was one of the last ones out, I didn't get the games cos they'd all gone. :(

The matches were played on those crap pod things and you had to use Internations. The successful players tended to use France, Italy and Argentina becuase they are good all round teams.

The games were 5 mins each, presumably to make progress quick, and were played with penalties but no extra time. It was a knock out competition, and I think there were 32 players in each regional (4 regional finals).

This years, I think it is being done on a much larger scale, and this time is a league rather than cup competition, which hopefully will mean everything won't hinge on one 5 minute game (for most people).

I paid 1.99 for the demo and pre ordered the game, but when I went to pick up the game (day of release) and hadn't taken the disc as I didn't realise you had to give it back. So I ended up paying full price for the game anyway - I didn't want to wait for delivery of the net.
