PES4 and Analog Control

Why no analog control?

That is the only question I have about this otherwise perfect game.

I mean, gameplay is superb. Wonderful. The best. Period.

Except for the lack of Analog control of course.

Were Konami expecting everyone to use keyboard playing this?
I mean, seriously, what point is there to have a "manual pass" button (right analog stick) when those passes are only 8-directional? Not very manual to me?

I mean, the right analog for long high passes is exactly the same as "Circle" button and left stick. No point for that feature then.

And the manual pass is useless since the ball goes off in a direction not intended 9 times out of ten (when u want to make a 20-meter pinpoint pass, ans the ball goes stright up the screen rather than slightly to the right etc. in that case u just use the X button for passing.

I seriously hope that Konami gets a patch out with analog support. It was the most fun thing with the Xbox version I played. No more rigid stiff gameplay, just sweet passes over the entire field that u really had to train to master.

Now just sucky longballs to the lineman.

Me wants analog

(sorry if this thread has been up 20 times before... It has, hasnt it? I cannot be alone in thinking this?)

Im using a Ps2 controller usb unit that allows me to use my ps2 pads to play with on the pc, and on pes4 (and pes3) the analog support works fine...
what controller are you using (maybe need to sort out settings for analog control in the contral panel menu) or are you using a keyboard (Definately dont recommend using this when playing pes4)?

Holy shit, so my rant was for nothing? my apologies... :)

Well, I am using a Logitech RumblePad II (USB).

It has the exakt setup of a PS2 controller, slightly bigger in size and slightly different in shape, but it is almost a copy of the PS2 controller.

I have assigned everyhting correctly in the Button settings.

My analog sticks are working analogely (atleast from what the control panel for my pad says, it has a square with a reticle in it that moves along with the sticks).

I have a mode changer, enableing that connects the left analog stick with the D-Pad, making the analog stick a d-pad (not analog). This mode I have disabled.

Nothing in my game is analog. Nothing in-game (long balls, manual passes etc. all go in either of the 8 digital directions, I have even made some tests with my brothers Xbox version to make sure it wasn't in my head).

Also, Replay controls on the Xbox such as camera rotation (left stick) and playback speed (right stick) are analog on the Xbox, while it is digital on my PC game.

I am playing with the 1.1 patch.

Does anyone with RumblePad II play analog?

I just assumed Konami, for some strange reason, removed analog support form the PC version. Now I am troubled indeed...

I will look through every option in my settings for someway to resolve this. Playing PES on Xbox was 1000x funnier just because of the analog support.

Thanx Majinfaisal for your input nontheless!

nah i agree with you, the analog sticks work on the ps2 controllers, but you are right, they are only 8-way directional, and its annoying as all get out. its exactly the same from pes3 and my hugest complaint with that game gets carried over to this one.

funny how the controls are different from the console version to the pc version

yep, totally agree, same with my PS2 controller on my PC its the most annoying and worst part about pes/we on the pc.

the sticks work ok, but it only responds in 8 directions...you'll see what we mean
still better than anything else you could use on the pc

Could anyone tell me where they get the usb adaptor for the PS2 controllers and I can't imagine using anything else to play PES with. Looking at a PC will be odd enough let alone having a different controller if I can't get one I shan't be purchasing the PC game for online play.

Get the PS2 adapter for your PC from here.

Tin Tin, try going to the main Options menu and then Button Configuration to change the settings.

Damn 8 directions is THAT crappy? Is it at least tolerable?

I think I may return these controllers then.

8 directions is the same as it's always been.
There is a bit more variety to the directions of long passes depending on the player stats and which foot he passes with.

its the in between positions on the analog stick that are iffy...i have we6 on the ps2, and that dead area isnt there in the controller...

zyg is right that in passing, through balls, etc, a lot of it has to do with the skill of the player, but general running and some dribbling is affected by this 8 way thing pretty bad.

I and several others who are using the adaptor from play.com all use Windows XP and it works fine. Just be sure not to install the software that comes with the adaptor as it doesn't seem to like service pack 2.
Just plug in the controller(s) and play.

There won't be a patch for this as it is how the game works. Some people play only using the manual passing (and consider using X to pass as a cheat of some kind) so it is possible to make good passes with the manual stick. Try the Manual pass training challenge mode to improve your accuracy.

f*ck! i now got an adapter like the one you ppl mentioned, only it isn't the play.com one because i don't have a credit card. i use it with a hipgear ps2 controller, ok not orginal but the controller works perfectely in it's setup program, but do you think it works in pes4? or even fifa 2005, NO.
and someone just said the game works fine, this is not fine, do you have to have a credit card or live in uk to play the game?
