** PES4 is based on luck **

Good point about the FKs thought. On PES3 I scored like 30-40% but on PES4 it is very difficult and I can't seem to adjust. To be honest, I can't say that the game has an increased luck factor, because they were some lucky things happening in PES3 that are much harder to pull in 4. It's getting used to things. My point is - what was different in the previous titles that made it less "lucky"?

BTW you won WHAT and WHERE?!?

From day 1 I had a very bad feeling about PES4. It's an amazing game, but it's not PES1, PES2 or PES3. The game is based on luck, not skill. The arrows, the momentum etc ... I'm playing for 6 months, my friend played against me yesterday in his first time in his life, and he won 5-3. Yes, he controls the stick perfectly and is one of the best FIFA players in the world, but damn I'm a good player. We played 20 games, he won 40% of them, in his first day.

What i'm trying to say ... I'm the only one that knows the fact this game is pure luck? and what aspects effect this luck?

* If you are going to comment on the fact he won in his first day, don't. Only good comments please.

meh, football has an element of luck in it, and the beauty of PES is it carries that on. To say that it is "based" on luck or to win is "pure luck" is stupid and just plain wrong. And as kashmere said you create your own luck.

If you can't shut ur FIFA player down and you conceed 5 goals, thats more than luck. It's called bad defense. You need some practice.

I agree, if you let in 5 goals against a fifa player, that is just plain wrong! Yes there is an element of luck, but that is part and parcel of football, giant killings happen from time to time and everyone can have an off day. I know what you mean about the skill factor though in pes4 it isnt as good as it should be, in that goal scoring is alot easier especially from cut backs leaving tap ins. It is a lot harder to defend though but not impossible. You just need to make sure your defensive positioning is up to scratch meaning you need to take control of this, and not leave it to the cpu to aid you. You need to be pro active in defense. Block crosses, intercept passes, get your foot in with a tackle, your defensive work needs to be on a par with your attacking. I've noticed alot of people rely on just their attacking play to win games, which is good against those who cant defend but become stuck when it comes to a player who can defend.

Just work on it, sure there is some luck but dont get that into your mindset too much, or you'll never have faith in your own ability or improve.

No such thing as luck in this game, you either play well or you dont, it's your fault if you lose. Luck dont control your fingers and thumbs you know.

And if you still think it's luck and that some games change then please tell me how i managed to go 6 straight ML seasons, with 6 stars, 10 minutes etc. undefeated in every game and averaging 4 goals I game?
I guess my luck must never run out then?

How well do you do vs. your mates?

In all truth, never lost a game against a single one of em, and usually win quite comfortably (i.e 2 or more goals)

And they all own PES

PES4 is very frustrating, the score line doesn’t always justify your performance and I agree that there’s a lot of luck revolved around this game. I’ve lost on numerous occasions due to some dodgy gaffes made by players (goalies standing statically, defenders tripping over their own feet, strikers missing the simplest of headers or shots etc) and the referees. When I win, I couldn’t care less, but when I lose when I know I was the better player I get pissed off. It's hardly ever because I played badly. Anyways, I’ve stopped playing PES4 for this very reason.

Luckily Juve don't have your spirit, otherwise we would've quit after the shameful 2 legs vs. the Reds. :D

Just kidding but I had to.

No offense raptor but maybe you need more improving than you think you do. If I remember correctly, you've been asking for quite a few tips lately. From what I hear it seems like your pal has a better football brain than yours, so even if he just started, he'll naturally fit right in as soon as he gets used to the controls. You prolly have a style of play that works well most of the time but eventually it'll clash. I spent quite a long time perfecting all styles of play and each day add an element into my own playbook. That way you can be effective against all kinds of opponents. Against good opponents I'm forced to change my style of play at least 5 times per match.

My advice to you and anyone else who has trouble against rookies, think outside the box. Adapt plays from real life. Try different real life styles, e.g. Premiership sends in lots of high and long balls, Serie A is very defensive and requires lots of tight short passing, etc. Use your imagination and expand your playbook.

Imagination is the key to success ;)

Yep. You make your own luck in football. If you think negatively then bad things will happen.

I disagree.
You try and play one of your friends for 10 matches in a row. I bet you will lose at least 1 and then you'll know that the players just react differently sometimes.
Unless you're just too über for your friends, in which case find someone better to play and you'll see this happen.

You're absolutely wright.

When ever anyone new to the game, I always try to different things coz "I know I'm gonna win". Then Iend up losing (usually on penalties).

I know what you mean. When nothing goes right, everyone's positioning is horrible, can't get in a good pass, and the other team plays fantastic, but there are still ways to counter it. It involves a ton of care in each decision you make on the pitch and some tactics adjustments. Hold on long enough til half time with smart decision making, then make the right adjustments and your team transforms back into their old selves.

Yep. I can shoot from the same spot 5 times, 3 times it'll hit the post, 2 time scores. The game is luck.

Just like real football?!

If the best team won every game it'd take all the greatness out the game anyway, just like if the worst team lost every game, and the mid-table teams drew 0-0 every time. That's what makes footy, and Pro Evo 4, great.

Norwich would never have beaten Man Utd 2-0 in real football if it was done like that ^.

I hope I wasnt mizunderstood earlier! I meant that games against my mates or human opponenents that are good enogh at the game are based on luck! I never have bad luck against the cpu! Hopefully when I get WE:LE next week then I will see if the games against my mates are still based on luck! I loved to beat my mates in the older versions of PES(especially PES1&PES2) because I really felt like I deserved it but I can rarely say that for PES4!

if he is great, then it's impossible that you beat him 45% of the time  . some of my mates sometimes manage to put in a ball here and there, but 98% of the time i beat them. maybe i'm great

Then he's not great at all. Just cuz someone played for a long time doesn't always mean they're great. Maybe your the one that's great ;)
