PES5 pros and cons

I agree that long passes may not work quite as they do in real life, but I think you are exaggerating quite a bit here, atleast for what I've experienced so far, the through passes work fine if you know what to do with them.

I'd even say that the long passing has improved from PES4.

i've only played the demo... but the passing does seem rather unweidly... though diagonal balls were fine...

personally i wont know until ive played it on ps2...

one of the biggest pros is how they take care of the little things... the bicycle shorts, coloured wristbands, untucked shirts... even the little crowd scene when you score... all contribute in their own way...

I wonder,in 10 or 20 years from now when pro 25 will be out, the game will be so realistic that we will score 2 or 3 goals in 90 minutes real time?

Ristol, you are right. Long passes are way better than they used to. Normal through balls are fine. Long air through balls are the case, and they really are not occasionaly not-fine. They will go to the opposition's keeper if they are done past the middle of the field and not aimed at the wings. Even then they are most of the times way too strong. I hope konami addresses this.

edit : even though the above case is really annoying for my play style, i would still choose pes5 cause, well, the shooting and scoring just feels better. a lot.

OK the demo is better compare to Pes4,
but i do exspect more! I am sure KONAMI can do better!I hope the full game is going surprise me1

i hate the static hairstyles!....those guys don't sweat!....it would be nice if at the end of the game players have wet hairs...also wet shirts, wich is very normal when playing in rain!

You are quite right. When you try to make high thru passes to the forwards even if you are close to them and you just want to place it away from the defender they always kick it too hard. I'm certain this issue will be addressed.

EDIT:Another huge pro that i cannot get enough of is the new replay views.

My main beef with it is the CPU still cheats, really badly. I'm playing the demo on 5 star cuz the other levels are a bit easy (I still sometimes get beat on even level 2/3, but I control the game too easily) It doesn't so much do wonderful things, it just makes you do sh!t things like miscontrolling it, making every pass go to the opposition when it's an easy pass, making every deflection go to the CPU, most through balls intercepted. But when YOU try to do any of those things your fast players like Ronaldo and Owen run slowly and can't close down defenders fast enough let alone run away from them, defenders beat you to balls which you are closer to, they nudge you, and kick you and get away with it - you make good challenges and get penalised. When the ball is in the air, you very rarely win it, I always seem to get muscled off and stumble somewhere (Is there a button you press to direct your body weight?) I've tried using R2 to control my players off the ball and get in a position to receive or intercept the ball, but my player just stands on the spot. And the most annoying thing is the way your players naturally take up position (your)goal side whenever there is a pass from the opposition, this is fine for a defender to do, but what about when you were in a great position to intercept and the CPU automatically moves your player out of the way so it's own player can recieve the ball? It's so frustrating. It sometimes similar when you recieve the ball on the wing or something and you're sprinting along and all of a sudden your player slightly veers towards the CPU defender, so he nicks it away, when all you've been doing is pressing right!! I sound like a right whinger I know, and believe or not, I totally love the PES5 demo, and can't wait for the full game, but it's these little nuances that really get to me. I can't stand being cheated, I don't mind getting beat (I don't like it!!) but I hate my players being manipulated...if only they could iron out those little things, this would be the most perfect game in the world. The shooting is wonderful by the way, there are going to be some special goals uploaded here soon, I've scored a few beauties myself!

Yajeel is totally right about the CPU cheating. It is really annoying! I hope they fix this thing, cause it makes me mad all the time...

Nope. All you world-class people who were whining that the games were too easy on 5* and 6* have to live with the ridiculous cheating. I'm hoping that they fix it by the PS3 version but who knows....

Does anyone else's demo run slowly/jerkily? Just hope my laptop has recommended sys. req.!
It probably doesn't meet the requirements.

Pes5 Problems
Speed Cheating:
Most people will find that it is the dribble speed that is the problem. For example Hleb is faster than Henry when Hleb has the ball as Hleb has 89 dribble speed compared to Henrys 83, even though Henry is faster. Tapping R1 or Tapping pad twice will make the player go faster.

Rebounds/Loose Balls:
This turns the game into pinball. No matter what happens the ball will most of the time go to the cpu players feet (without the player even moving) or your players feet. It seems instead of trying to calculate how tha ball will bounce off the player realistically , they have chosen a easy version of the ball just bouncing towards a player. Most of the chances the cpu gets is when during a challenge the cpu gets a perfect 10 yard pass as a deflection

Jumping:
The manual states that the player will only jump if the user is pressing R2. Yet most of the time my player will jump withouy pressing R2, which often results in my player losing the ball.

Passing On Wings:
You pass to a player on the wing and your player will jump in the air and the ball will go out of play.

Player Response:
Compared to the cpu my players are slow, sometimes they would run away from the ball.

Super Cancel:
Unlike every other football game, it seems you don't get control of your player by default , but instead you have to keep using super cancel or R2. By the time you have pressed super cancel to move your player towards the ball, the cpu has stepped in and taken the ball. R2 is too slow, the player moves at a very slow speed. They should have an option on what type of super cancel you want.
A R1+R2 (normal super cancel),
B Any Pad Movement (any button press would result in super cancel),
C R1 or R2 (Pressing R1 or R2 would result in super cancel)

CPU doing things you can't:
Slide tackle pass - The cpu can slide tackle and do any pass it wants at the same time, while you can't do anything with a slide tackle.
Pass by deflection - The cpu can challenge your player for the ball and the resulting deflection will often go directly towards a cpu player without the ball.
40 Yard Pin Point Headers (especially on clearances)- You just press and hope, with no control on power, when you jump, height and often direction.
Fouls - The cpu can push , pull, foul your player anytime it wants and the ref does nothing, while you can just go for 50/50 and you will give a foul away, even without pressing the x button. Fouls are also given even when the cpu player still has the ball. I got a player sent off for barging into the cpu player who still had the ball and who still made a shot on goal.

Is there any way someone from Konami to read this thread? I think our opinions would help them a lot. Those minor bugs could be easily fixed, since most of them didn't exist on PES4.

The "bugs" you're talking about aren't actually that minor at all. They might sound minor to you but for a programmer (no, im not really one) fixing them needs more work than you could imagine. Assuming you mean those "bugs" Dryheat listed above. Whether Konami read these threads or not (I would bet all my money for that they dont), the game is almost out so they will not make any major changes anymore.

They had better have all the teams sorted with their new signings and formations at least.

*** I totally agree with you here

*** I dont have this problem playing with Valencia

*** never had this problem

Compared to the cpu my players are slow, sometimes they would run away from the ball.

*** I agree against the CPU its a pain ... ive played my mates and family ... this doesnt happen then

*** thats some good options, i was thinking of the same thing when i was playing PES4

CPU doing things you can't:
Slide tackle pass - The cpu can slide tackle and do any pass it wants at the same time, while you can't do anything with a slide tackle.

*** I have been able to pass while doing a slide tackle... you press the pass button but it slides in and it passes it to another player quite well ( very rarely, works for shooting aswell )

Pass by deflection - The cpu can challenge your player for the ball and the resulting deflection will often go directly towards a cpu player without the ball.

*** happens in player vs player games aswell ( random aspects of the game adding realism i guess )

*** yes the CPU does seem to make perfect tackles ( it was the same in PES4 ) ... ive had a player sent off against a mate though many a time mostly yellow cards though...

in my opinion for the fouling system is really like real life.... ive watched Swansea City FC ( most of you people probably have no idea who they are...they are currently top of League 1) for about 8 years and only recently referees have given ridiculous free-kicks for nothing more than a nudge in the back. So Konami have got it right, it might be a right pain, but at the end of the day... the rules these days dont let u touch some1 ( I play football in the lower leagues and its the same and i play as a striker ! )

I like most of the comments posted here, i hope Konami take note :) keep it coming!

P.S i wish the demo was a full 90, not just the 45!

Well, the more we play PES5 the more we will get used to the gameplay. After playing several hours 5 stars, I found a way to reduce my fouls and play better defence. About the CPU getting all the rebounds, I have to admit that this happens if you press X+R1 to play defence. The key is to play defence using the D-pad and R1 and try to force the CPU to make a wrong pass. This is more realistic cause in real football the opponent wins the ball more frequently from a wrong pass rather than a 1-1 mark.Have you noticed that when you defend on the back sides the player you control tends to keep the defence line and won't rush to the player that is ready to cross the ball?
