I know all you guys are suggesting very nice little additions, but I can't see that any of those will be a revolution - just incremental changes.
What we really need is real defensive and offensive AI.
1. Defenders that actually mark up
2. Attackers that make intelligent runs, based on space.
3. Defenders that spot the runs of opposition players and GO WITH THEM.
I could go on forever, but what we really need is a change in philosophy from Konami about how they make their game. The changes from PES4 to PES5 are differences and not improvements. The way the Ref favours CPU in ML, The insane amount of fouls, the way a player turns so slowly, the way they can't pass any direction but straight in front of them - The way slow defenders CATCH UP to Henry - These are all ARTIFICIAL ways of trying to make the game harder because Konami were either unwilling or unable to improve the AI.
If Konami were limited by the PS2's processing power then perhaps that's OK, but then they should have released PES5 for half the price knowing it was half an update (or not even half).
If they were unable because they don't see the HUGE flaws in the game, then we are in trouble because when PES6 comes around it will be updated graphics, updated squads, more licences and STILL NO AI
Hopefully it is a case of the former and then we can hope Konami will actually improve the game.
