Hi, I'm playing Juventus in an online league. I'm stuck with them for a looong time and I've earned a reputation as a crybaby because I constantly complain about them. (when many of the others have Bolton, Everton, Betis etc)

But I honstly think something is completely wrong with juve. Apart from Nedved, Buffon and Trezeguet all the players stink. Or, at least, they do when I play them. :)

My problem is that every single time an opponent is within 2 feet of my players, they stumble, trip, bend over trying not to trip, lose their opponent player etc. You know what I mean. It's not because they were tackled or something that I do (I think) they just fall over like stupid comedians with no free kick. I don't think I have ever won a "2-players-run-for-the-same-ball"-duel.

Anyway, I'm trying to make the best possible team of non-sissies out of them, meaning that I have to bench star players, and my question is: what stats are the important ones for not stumbling all the time? Is it Balance?, power?, Agility? response? Attack/defence? Or some other thing?

Don't get me wrong, I know that juve is a good team if you are a quick and good player so the opposition never gets close to you. They have technique and some speed, but most of the time I am under pressure and I don't think anything is more annoying than making a perfect run or tackle and then the player just stumbles and loses a couple of meters, leaving the opponent completely free on goal.

The biggest problem is the central defence. Everytime someone makes a high through pass, their striker is completely free to score because his marker trips - before I even get control of him.

What skills are the important ones for a physical player?
Any tips on physical play would be appreciated.
And any tips on playing as juventus - what players to use etc. would be nice.

Thanks in advance.

i think balance is very inportant, it means how often they stay on their feet (i think), look at the strong players eg sol, viera, adriano they all have high balance stats.

agree mate. might be worth playing your defenders closer to attackers and man mark so minimalise the space to 'trip over' in. to be honest i don't pay too much attention to my defence since days of iss98 when was UAE and had 6 at the back and 3 in midfield.

In those situations I find that releasing the d-pad and not doing anything with the buttons seems to help, when you're close to tackling a player - then it's like the player takes over themselves. I noticed this when the opposition would be on the break and one of my players, when the cursor had just moved over them would start running toward the ball but then if I took over 'too much' and tried to direct them to it, it's never as accurate - that's no doubt down to the fact that I'm sh*te but ne’er the mind...

Kongbuur, altho I am not the best player myself, I recognize some of your complaints.
You can solve it, if it is what I think it is ;)
Do you use the R1 (or right trigger at the Xbox) very often? When running fast, your players don't have the control needed. Try running with R2 (black in Xbox) instead; it is a button which gives you much more control when receiving the ball or turning away from your opponent.

Yup, i know that one. I do run too much - it's like my finger is stuck to R1 - I'm trying to get it better, but it's not the problem. It also happens when I'm not in control, when im at a complete stop etc. It happens a lot in the game. Most times in a man-to-man situation, one of them falls (or turns around, stumbles, trips) and the other one runs away. My problem is that it is juventus 95% of the time.

I know it was a lot of questions in one thread, but most of all I'd like to know what skill determines if a player falls and which of the players do it. Balance was the first answer. I trying to get rid of the ones with low balance now. It's just weird, because they all have more than 80. And Montero who is one of the worst, has 82 - excactly as Nedved and it's more than Helguera, beckham, Ashley cole and many others. I can see that Campbell has 97, but most players are around 80-85 - and all of juve as well...

What more could be important?

Nah, it's constant and the opposition has form too. Here I go with my whining again, but you really should try it. Play with Juve against a human opponent that is a little better than you - or at least a match you don't dominate completely. You will know what I mean. It's no problem against the AI - because they wait and play calmly.

I played a 0-8 match against a friend who was Everton. Then we changed sides and I won 2-1... Juve should be a liiittle better than Everton, IMHO. But when Rooney gets close to the defense, they chose to sit down. It's worse with Ruud VN and Ronaldo, I have never ever tackled them... It's all up to Buffon... Have a go and tell me what you think.

Anyway, as I said, I'm stuck with them in a league and need to get the best of it. So I want to field as many players as possible that don't fall over when they see an opponent. So far this means Miccoli, Camoranesi, Olivera, Montero, Iuliano, Zebina +more on the Bench while Blasi, Kapo, Zalayeta are the stars. But:

Am I looking at the right stats?

What is:
Power?
Agility?
Response?
Aggression?
And what about consistency?
