Again with Abu on this (making it a habit this week). The stats ARE important, VERY important and more time should be taken on the stats in my eyes. It is one of the main reasons why the game feels so broken to some this year more than any other year and why people are spending literally a hundred hours getting this mod, that mod, changing gamespeed, changing pitch angle etc etc, because of the huge imbalance the stats have on the game engine.
There is NO EXCUSE these days for getting the stats so blatantly wrong, and all these people that say 'oh poor KONAMI, but how have they got the time to assess all these players poo hoo hoo', are wrong. The trouble is, in my opinion, that people in KONAMI don't know enough about football; it's that simple. They cannot comprehend what stat implementations would have in the game and they cannot assess someone IRL and gauge correctly what the stats should be.
For example, everyone can kick a ball hard, but the difference between a top striker who may have 95 for shot power and someone in a poor team is huge. The guy in the poor team may have shot power set to 55 or something stupid, which is probably a little over what my 6 year old daughter can kick it at.
So things like this cause a HUGE discrepancy already. 95 shot power too high (for everybody combined with so called poor strikers having appalling stats).
There isn't an excuse guys, KONAMI have 365 days in a year; the trouble is I probably watch 100 times more football than KONAMI from my work room through the net, so even I, an amateur, have a far greater understanding of stats for example. Someone like Walcott for example is quick, lightening quick, but his final ball is poor. So this needs to be reflected. The game is also too fast on default game speed, and all this is down to the stats. Everybody seems to have turbo acceleration and speed. It seems these days games are built around these stats alone.
Take someone like Carragher for example, he's fkin useless in this game because he's slow etc, but there are no 'defender nous' stats, like reading the game, positioning etc etc.
This is why the game is such a shambles online. No disrespect to the community, but it's how the game out of the box is engineered to play, extremely fast ping pong football.
Take someone like Heskey for example; every fkin year for the last five years this guy is WAY WAY overrated. He's fkin useless IRL. Arshavin last year, he had form 8 lol, when he's one of the most inconsistent players in WORLD FOOTBALL!!
There's also this misconception that the Premier League and its players are like Gods. And that teams like Milan and Inter etc etc are also like God teams. Eto is always rated World Class for example in every game there is, he's untouchable on times. And yet IRL he has his good games I'm not saying, but he's inconsistent, has lots of baggage, upsets team mates etc etc all this isn't reflected in the game. When I first had the demos I was like wow, at the fact that KONAMI had replicated players like Ribbery, Robben, Bale etc etc, but now most of the players on the harder modes play the same, virtually anyone has the ability to ghost past defenders unless you use jockey hold all day. Nothing wrong with that, but when was the last time you say Heskey take on three players like an amped up Diego.
Everything in this game seems engineered and designed for all out pace and speed, to the detriment of the thinking man's player.
Well said. Sadly pace is loved by a lot of people, even when it comes without technique or intelligence, especially in English football.
