players preferred position - performance

If anyone out there has the official PES5 guide, could you please look into this and advise.
If you have a player who can play in more than one position eg CB -SB, and his best position is CB, will his performance at side back be dictated by his stats and my own ability to control him or will the computer slightly handicap him for playing in the non-preferred position like I believe previous PES games did.

actually its sort of a fake impression really...u can play a player anywhere as long as they have the ability needed for it. ive even played my keeper as a dmf!!! the reason y a natural sb may not be as gd playin as cb may very well be bcuz he lacks the required stats, eg:less balance...also they might not have the stars, like d-line control...etc

There is not much detail about playing players out of position in the official guide.

I play the players in the positions they are able to play in, not worrying about whether or not it's their primary position. I just try not to play a player in a position that is not any of their positions. Although Adriano does OK at left back, he seems slower at running and turning compared to when he is up front.

i play a cb/dm/cmf at right back, i want him to play all the game but i cant get him into his preffered positions. i find he plays well there but (probably) doesnt increase as rapidly as he would in the other positions.

the player im talking about is the 'newcomer' Bradley

Thanks for the feedback. I have had to play players in positions they are not suited for due to injuries etc mid game and found them to be less than ideal. I guess the trick is to sign players who are multi talented and can cover as many positions as possible, if you can afford it.

As an example, Heitinga isn't technically a DMF, but he's the best ML player I've ever had in that position.

I've hard many stories about Roberto Carlos playing upfront and actually being a quality striker

Anyone play players out of position like this?

I have and he is a hell of a striker to have upfront bangs the shot in hard all the time and so very quick plus he wins the ball alot upfront so it is defiinitely worth the try.I was wondering if the position you play players affect their development in master league

The guide suggests that players are more likely to make positional errors when played out of position. Their movement will be poor and they will won't mark opponents as well. It's hardly noticeable with say, a CB at SB but if you played, say, a RWF at RB he would mark his man poorly and rarely be in good positions to win the ball or receive passes. I think it also affects their consistency.

so does players playing in different position affect their growth?
i heard stories that if u play a GK upfront and he scores, he will gain lotsa points due to the fact that they reward players in defensive position handsomely if they do score goals...
