I assume so; I haven't changed anything and never used to have any problems. Only really have in the past few weeks.

Don't think I've gone out of my way to install anything; have simply chose the video section on PS3, found my PC and videos and gone from there. Like I said it used to be fine but all of a sudden I can manage 5-10 minutes and then it goes to shit?

When booting up the computer, hit F8 before the Windows logo appears during the boot-up process and choose Safe Mode with Networking. See if the problem persists or goes away. If it stays, there's likely a hardware fault somewhere (RAM at a guess). If it doesn't occur, there's a software conflict in normal mode.

Cheers, I'll have a bash when I get home...then I'll try what you said :badumtish:

My PC has been making a loud sound for a while now; at first I thought it might be the fan but at second guess could it be my harddrive on its way out?

Nope, a hard drive will generally click and then fail to be found the next time you boot. The fan could just be stupidly dusty.

It could be a loose screw; one holding a fan or one of the other components. Have you tried taking the case off, turning on the computer and trying to identify that way, whilst keeping your body parts clear?

The fan could just be stupidly dusty.

That is often the case when my computer starts making an ear-ache. The fan may appear to be quite dust free but, I get a cotton bud and wipe down behind the individual petals (for lack of another name), and low and behold, there was a mountain of dust stuck to the back of each!

I also put the vacuum nozel in and around the fan, on occasion. Whether that's a smart idea or not, I can't say.

In regard to the PS3 and it's internal fans. I have this little "Secret PS3 Users Manual" booklet that came free with an issue of PSM3. It has an "Expert Tip" to make the PS3 dust itself.

Provided you have a PS3 model of CECHG or higher, there's a power switch trick that uses the internal fans to clean out internal dust. Just turn the power switch (on the back) to off, then turn it back on while holding down the Eject button.

Warning: some 'net folk think this is a bad idea, so proceed at your own risk.

I decided to give it a spin and it worked. But I've only done it the once. And I don't plan on doing it frequently, just incase that warning actually means something.

Can't sign into PSN, keep getting "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of Playstation Network (80710B23)."

I've rebooted my PS3 a few times, rebooted my router aswell, still no luck.

Anyone else can't get into the PSN?

I'm having trouble now too. Took about 2 hours to get to 33% then there was an error with the connection. I've tried updating via storage media but it's not having it.

Hmmmm, I cancelled the download and then started it again. Worked fine then, quick as usual.

I've noticed the friends list now looks different, I preferred it pre-update but ah well, no big deal.

I'll just have to wait for sweey to come online to help me download it via storage media then. I'm trying again here and it's been stuck on 0% for about 5 minutes.

Didn't take long. Apparently we can download movies now.

Cool, where from?

Earlier this evening, I hit the PS button while on MW2 to go into my friends list in the XMB, and noticed one of my friends' bar was a pinky colour, which was quite strange. When I highlighted over all the others, it was the usual silver, but not that one friend.

:erm:
