Mirrors Edge is a good choice and the Assassins Creed games are worth picking up. How can you not buy Killzone3 though when it comes out? Its going to urinate all over the COD and Resistance games. Its got so much more character than the usual bland shoot'em up.

How about something like Enslaved?

I played the demo, liked it, and then saw in your trophies you'd been playing it, so that's been earmarked.

You played Uncharted games Jonno? If not, do so.

I tried the demo, and thought it was ok. Seeing as the first is platinum, you can probably get it for £15 or less, so i'll keep my eyes open.

I just am not a fan of linear/level based first person shooters anymore. Open world stuff is more my thing, or something like Half-Life. Anyone tried Far Cry 2?

With the exception of Killzone2 I can't abide first person shooters. I've never been any good at them and I find them pretty mundane - but something about Killzone2 got me hooked. I've probably invested more hours on Killzone2 than any other game and yet I can still safely and paradoxically maintain I'm not a first person shooter fan.

I wasn't overly impressed with Far Cry2. I enjoyed the Rainbow six games however.

Far Cry 2 is great man, I love the whole 'approach it any way you want' sort of thing they've got going on.

I put loads of hours into this game, and it doesn't look too bad either.

Definitely recommend it man.

I've only really played the demo ones, although I borrowed 'The Shoot' off my mate and it's so fucking good.

I will be purchasing but it needs to drop in price man! I already forked out £50+ or whatever amount I paid for the controllers!

yeah the price is ridiculous

Character is not really a word I'd use to describe Killzone. :hmm:

Far Cry 2 would be good if it didn't fail at such simple things. It ends up being no fun whatsoever. You can't go anywhere in peace without being chased by gun-toting Africans in Lamborghinis or some shit. Wanted to like it but I couldn't get through 30 minutes without quitting of frustration.

Don't base Uncharted off the demo, by the way Jonno. They probably selected one of the dullest parts of the game to include. I didn't think much to the demo, and it ended up being another year before I got round to playing the full game.

Uncharted and Uncharted 2 are must-buys IMO.

Picked up Far Cry 2 for £5 from HMV. Can't really go wrong at that price, map looks absolutely huge, but won't start playing it until I'm done with Fallout New Vegas, so that'll be a month or so.

The reviews for Killzone 3 have all been saying that the story is terrible, and the cut scenes are way to long.

Course it has Guillermo, by default thanks to the gravitas of Brian Cox and Sean Pertwee.

But it also has that diabolical bastard Rico. You don't even get to kill him. I hope he goes rogue and you take his face off with a jetpack.

As great as it is to play, the storyline is wafer thin.

I can't get enough of LBP create mode at the moment.... but I'm not even making levels! Just faffing about making music.

The online mode is the games main sale point, the story is by the by, I expect similar in Killzone3 to be honest. I'm only buying it because I know the online function will be superb.

Even despite the story being crap, the single player is still very fun in Killzone 2. If you value your sanity, don't try elite mode. The last 2 levels, specifically the bit just outside Radec's building (where the flying thing comes down and there's an infinite number of enemies coming out of the doors) is horrible. That long stretch just before the baracade, I literally just legged it through and managed to get to the checkpoint where the flying thing swoops down. The once you get inside.... oh lord!! The Radec fight (before you actually get 1-on-1 with him).... tough... bloody tough. I was close to tears at many points!

I really ought to carry on playing it just to complete it really, it sounds good.

Sminky, you haven't played the single player on Killzone 2?! I thought it was great :\

I gave up on that Radec fight man, it was too tough.

Yeah I started playing single player but got hooked on the online mode, I'll aim to complete it before I start playing the Killzone3 storymode.
