Playstation 3

Can't say that causes me a problem. I use my PS as the primary DVD player and cannot recall a time I've needed to back out to the XMB while watching a film...

No, but it would be nice to be able to download demos/games/DLC in the background while watching a film instead of you being logged out of PSN.

That is my primary issue really.

You're right there. That's really anoying. It almost feels like wasted time.

Good news everyone!

Just kidding, this is Sony we're talking about. :hmm:

On Sunday, Sony announced that "some" PSN services, including online play, would come back this week. With very little of this week remaining, you might be wondering if it's still going to happen. Well, it isn't.

In another difficult weekend for Sony, the company has admitted that the PlayStation Network is likely to remain switched off for several more days. It has also been forced to take action after another security breach, which saw the stolen details of 2,500 sweepstakes contestants being published on a website.

In a message posted on the Sony blog on Saturday, the company stated:

We're still working to confirm the security of the network infrastructure, as well as working with a variety of outside entities to confirm with them of the security of the system. Verifying the system security is vital for the process of restoration. Additional comprehensive system checks and testing are still required, and we must complete that process before bringing the systems online.

Now I get you, yes that is an arse. It's not as though the PS is really working that hard when playing a film so It should really be able to cope.

2 people from a local forum I frequent said that they received a call from their bank, informing that their credit card has been compromised.

I have heard a few reports. Some saying users from countries in Europe like Germany, Austria etc have had details stolen. Obviously, if a PSN user has his/her card details comprimised, they're gonna link it to the PSN hack, when it might not be the case.

Lets be honest now, of course it'll be as a result of the PSN hack.

Any word on when it's going to be back up anyway?

This week. But just being able to sign in and play online. Don't think the store will be up for a while.

Single player is where it's at anyway. I'd love to say i've used the PSN downtime as an excuse to get back into single player gaming, but I don't play competitive multiplayer games much anyway.

That being said, I have found a new found interest in gaming over the past month that has been missing for the past year or so. I've finished Yakuza 3 and 4, and i'm currently balls deep in Nier.

Once that is done I'll be playing the shit out of LA Noire when it comes out. Who needs online!!

BELIEVE
I'm with Jonno here for the most part. The only game I've really played online in the last year or so properly is COD. I'll probably always play COD online in the coming years, but having a great story game is awesome. I can still remember being young and playing through San Andreas, it was beyond epic. And more recently, playing through the first BioShock was such an experience.

Great online is one thing, but a brilliantly immersive single player is another. Which is why I'm loving Red Dead Redemption right now, and why I'm looking forward to Lego Pirates of the Caribbean because they're awesome single player puzzle games.

You a fan Lego games?

I'm not the only then. :D

I guess you could say I am, even though I've only played Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4. I don't think I'd bother with Star Wars considering I never really liked the movies, and with the Lego games hardly being the most detailed in terms of story, I'd be completely lost.

I do have Lego Batman to play through though, which I'll probably attempt to rape upon completing Red Dead Redemption. That is of course if I don't decide to buy Lego Pirates of the Caribbean upon release, which is likely since I love the PotC franchise.
