Just buy yourself a couple of decent single player games. Uncharted (1 and 2) and inFamous are cheap now. Give them a go if you haven't played them already.

I've actually been doing a tropy run on Killzone 3 during the outage. Only have a few more to get. Was disappointed with elite difficulty. On the last game, the last couple of sections literally had me in tears. I had no such frustration on Killzone 3.

I wouldn't mind the Lego games if they were different enough. It's just the same premise over and over. Blow enemies into bricks. Solve simple puzzles. Collect lots of of the little block things. unlock another character no-one gives a toss about. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

Single player games have to be more player driven for me. I'm not a big fan of overly linear gameplay. I've got used to having a bit of freedom now & I like it.

It has taken the edge off a few newer titles though, especially when the story is crap. Yes Killzone 3, I mean you. Oh, and Gears of War 3 prologue, aka Bulletstorm.

I've heard once it's back up, we'll get to choose two free PS3 games from a list of five, though they'll probably be some shite from PSN rather than full retail releases.

Demolition Derby & Crash Bandicoot sound like certs...

All this PSN aggro is pushing me to get LA Noire for the 360 and forgo any PS exclusive.

I used to absolutely love both franchises. The amount of fun I used to have with friends on Demolition Derby playing Skyscraper, it was hilarious. Not to mention I used to play Crash Bandicoot with my dad as a kid and it was just so great, probably one of my all time favourite games growing up. They don't sound like bad compensation to be completely honest. Of course a lot of the younger kids with a PS3 will just bitch and moan, not understanding how awesome these classics are.

I've corrected that.

I too used to love Demolition Derby, but that was on an 14 inch portable as a much younger person. I played it again last year at a mates house and quite frankly it's crap to look at on a big HD telly (really blocky) and the gameplay is terrible in comparison so some newer titles. It brought back happy memories at first, then as soon as I started playing they faded. Quickly.

Can't speak for Crash as I've never played a Crash game.

If they are going to do the decent thing, then they should give a download code equivalent of store credit to use on whatever you want, rather than giving a choice that may not suit.

Do people class PSN as a right or a privilege? Do you think that when you buy the console you are also buying your access to the PSN thus they should compensate for any down time?

The people who paid for the plus service are certainly due something. As for the rest of us, one of the main reasons for going the PS3 route was the subscription free on-line gaming that Sony offered.

As it was an inclusive part of PS3 ownership, then surely that classes as a failure of service? Especially as there is a possibility that Sony have lost a lot of face, never mind credit card details...

Yes and Sony sell the PS3 on the basis of free access to PSN. It was there way of challenging MS.

They are the only two classic games I've bought on the PS3. :huh: Still can be quite fun, although a lot more frustrating than modern day games.

I found that when I got the Sega Megadrive Collection. Old games are frustrating. You have limited lives, you often can't save the game. It's best to leave these games in the past and not ruin the nostalgia. Having said that, I have both the Oddworld games downloaded from PSN store..... no nostalgia lost there, still awesome :)
