Poll PES 2009, Hit or Miss? (Full game, not the demo)

Pffff?? Enjoy paying for a new console every 6months, enjoy getting conned for downloadable content, enjoy paying for the ability to play online and last but not least, enjoy paying £40-50 for EACH game.

PS3 mate. Free online play. Won't need replacing for quite some time. Ease of use. Pre-owned titles readily available. Doubtless a larger community of online gamers for PES. Done. Finito.

Games only crash on PC because most of the time the person has no idea what he's doing.

True. I'll conceed on that point.

I have a nice 22" widesceen LCD and I use a PS2 control for PES.

Its mainly because some PC users don't realise it only takes a USB converter to use a PS2 control. £17 for the PC, £30-40 for the PS3/360? For the SAME game?? lol...

I wouldn't really say it has a larger community than PC for PES. But that's your opinion.

My first impressions on the final PES 2009 version:

PES 2009 DEMO > PES 2009 > PES 2008


Most people do say the final version is better than the demo though....

Thank you, although that's slightly disappointing. I was not totally satisfied with the demo - I felt that some of the major gameplay issues of 2008 were not addressed at all. I'll give the full version a shot anyway.

I think the new game is brilliant, absolutely, it makes 2008 look pathetic!

The graphics turn out brilliant on a HD screen (with gold plated HD cable), the game plays smoothly, champions league mode looks amazing, become a ledgend is great, edit mode is back to its best, and you can add your own songs! Soooo good.

I had two online games last night (I played them and won them for Mike) the first was okay, but a tiny bit jittery and the second half of the second game was shocking, however the little light beside the other players number on screen kept turning yellow then red. Is it the same for the rest of you gentlemen?

So far, the keepers arent as bad as 2008 but its early days yet as I have only played a few games. We all know the shooting is different, but for me, its different in a good way when you know what youre doing with your position, speed and space.

PS: Ronaldo for me cant score at all, he couldnt hit water if he fell off a boat.

another big dissapointment for me, although its better than pes2008, it looks all fake the player animation is like fifa's robotic 2006-07 version. the kits look like theyve been dipped into nail varnish, the captains arm band looks like an inflatable life saver.

every time you pass or receive the ball the ball makes a thump sound, which doesnt happen real life unless your taking a shot, its pure annoying. the players run like theyve got skates on. back to pes2006 until konami get it right, looked forward to this years version. nah sorry to say not impressed at all.

Well, technically it IS fake, you know. It's a video game after all.

Yeah, running animations are pretty fast, but depending on your style you didn't even notice. If you always do long runs horizontally with players it can look weird sometimes. But I'm think it's like this because Konami is trying to balance the pace online and offline, the ultra-responsiveness can help with not feeling the net's lag so much.

back to pes2006 until konami get it right, looked forward to this years version. nah sorry to say not impressed at all.

Come on, do you think your reasons are game breaking? I respect your opinion but you should check it out more of the game. I almost did a bicycle goal today with Nedved, the animation was awesome. There is also a lot of new animations. Have you played an afternoon game? Wtf is that! Awesome man.

Give it a try again, I command!

I played a quick exibition match and felt it was the same as pes08, i take your word for it give it a chance and play it to experience the game more. i think i rushed and having played fifa09 with my friends kind of put me off pes with fifas gameplay. i love pes in my heart but for some reason it feels fake,,,LOL....pause...Naaat. I have to say though Konami need to add alot to get up the ladder. gonna go play pes09 respect.

Has anyone noticed how much quicker the game is than the demo?

I played the demo quite a bit, so when I first played the full version of the game, the speed felt the same as the demo. This was not the case when I played the PES2009 demo straight after playing PES2008.

The full game is better than the demo on the PC imo. I fel the same way you did playing the demo but it seems that it is much better in the full version IMO. I will be getting it for the ps3 when it comes out in the US but will play the PC version until then.

I'd definetely rate this game a hit. The edit mode is just about spot on, and with all the new modes it's looking very good. The gameplay itself is light years ahead of PES 2008 so I'm happy.

Sums up my feelings entirely.

I just want a fun footy game, with some really good edit modes and plenty to do, and some cracking gameplay to boot.

PES this year has all that, so it's a hit in my book.
