Well they already have online team play, as well as a framework for creating virtual players, so I don't see it being a huge effort with enough community support to make it viable.
The one question I have is the online data transfer - that is, each player having every other players 'pro' data. It seems that right now, when you play online, you get your own version of edit data, as far as kits go, meaning no edit data is actually shared. That may be a major hurdle to a 'pro clubs'-esque mode, if that's the case
