Pro Evo 5 crashing??

Hey everyone

for some reason pro evo 5 was working fine with me until a week or two ago. now every time i start a match the game freezes as soon as it the match stops i.e for a throw in, foul, goal etc. all you can see is a black screen with the sound of the crowd in the background. does anyone have a solution to this problem as i am not the best with computer technology. ive tried the game on other PS2's and the problem still occurs. i also know of three other people in the same campus at uni who are experiencing the same problem. surely this cant be a coincidence. any help would be much appreciated.

thanks

It can't be your PS2 as you said that other people in your campus have had the same problem with their PS2s.

But it sounds to me like there's something wrong with the disc. I think it may just have some scratches or fingerprints on it.

Have you tried wiping the disc with a lint-free cloth? Sometimes that's all it requires.

Mine used to freeze when a certain controller was plugged in during multiplayer games.

this is very odd as the disc seems fine with no noticeable scratches or fingerprints as the game is only a few months old.

im at a point of despair, no pro evo!!!

It definitely sounds like a disc problem.

Have you tried a friend's copy of PES5 on your PS2? That will confirm whether your PS2 is the problem or your copy of PES5 is the problem.

Mine has frozen with a black screen once before, with the crowd noise in the background so think its a slight bug in the game

so how did you fix it? or was it just a one-off and it fixed itself?? so annoying

Just sell it on ebay and say nothing about the problem then with the money off that buy a new one :ninja:. Sneeky.

I would take the game back. It's not a bug else we'd all be ranting on about it, its never happened to me so your unlucky or that disc is scratched

it happens to me and i just wait sometimes for 3mins and it comes back on, i personally think it is the playstation as it happens on mine and friends big version but not on slim one.

I've never had any problems, if there has been its just that the game sometimes turns my analog off, I know its the game because it doesnt happen an any other of my games, but its the controlers fault as well cause I chuck it around

It has happened to me as well, it definitely has to do with the disc. Get a new disc and it works fine.
However, the main reason for the disc to get scratches on it was my ps2, the big version, it was a bit old and when you switched it on, sometimes it wouldn't read the disc at all, and you could hear the 'ticking' sound of the laser trying to read the disc.
I got a new ps2 (small one) and a new disc, and the 'black screen and crowd noise' after a throw-in or something like that, has just happened once.
Trust me, the reason is that the disc doesn't have eternal life when you play pes5 24 hours a day....
