I think there should be a button that allows you to dive.....I know theyre trying to cut that out of football, but lets face it, it does happen in real football...
And I think players that are good at it (eg. Cristiano Ronaldo) should have good stats for it and other players that dont dive should have poor stats for it.

I would also like to see a 'jump' button, this would allow you to time your headers to perfection so that the headers in the game aren't so automatic and pathetic-as in PES4 the headers are poor. If there was a jump button the headers would feel more controlable etc.

Ragdoll physics would make the game look more like a comedy show than a football game. The game could use more animations, but in real soccer people tend to fall over the same way because of how the body reacts automatically when showed or tackled.
Ragdolls would be fine if there was an option to shot someone on the pitch with a sniper-rifle, otherwise it will look dumb.
This is a common misconception of ragdolls. They can be used for more than death. Let me clarify what a ragdoll is.

A ragdoll is a collection of multiple rigid bodies tied together by a system of constraints that restrict how the bones may move relative to each other. In simple terms, a ragdoll is a physics calculation of a skeletal infrastructure. The advantage ragdolls offer over traditional animations is that they allow a much more correct interaction with the surrounding environment. Where it would be absurd to try and hand-craft custom animations for all conceivable circumstances, ragdolls fill in and generate a mostly-correct interpretation of events on fly.

When players are tripped, shoved over, tackled, or lose balance, their bodies do not always hit the ground the same. If you were to make the body stiff as they appear in current sports games, you would be out with many injuries. The same reason a drunk driver walks away from an accident with only cuts and bruises, but kills the other person...........the drunk driver does not stiffen their body. To allow your body to absorb the impact, you must allow it to go slightly limp.

It would be much more realistic if the body was also allowed to react with the environment. If the ball can bounce off the uprights, why not a body? Would it not be nice if someone was shoved into the goal post and their body reacted accordingly? When a ball is struck hard right into someones face, would it not stun them, knock their head back, or maybe knock them unconscious? When a player is tackled and lands atop another, shouldnt they react accordingly?

The physics calculation of the strength of impact and the physics calculation of the reaction of the human body to the surrounding environment, would make it look much more realistic than predetermined animations.

Well lets wait for PS3 for some of the things mentioned her, ( hihihi they better do a great work on PS3 because now excpectations are high everyone hoping to see miracles)

Well mircales will not be done and Im sure we will be dissapointed when the first PES comes out on PS3 because we pretend that evey thing not included on pes on PS2 will be included in PS3 and thats not realistic.

But Konami will better deliver a great game and a great improvment on the next generation consoles and I say this because there are many sectors of the game that could be improved and people will be very inquisitive when PS3 is around.

Thats why Konami should start working on next generation PES now.

mmmm....great game but can still be improved.

1. GK must be more consistent. I'm fed up of doing the most crappy shots and it rolling into the bottom corner, whilst the GK stands there watching it go by. But then, the GK can save the most amazing shots which just would't get saved in the real world. I think they need to find some middle ground there.

2. FK, they are near enough impossible to score from anywhere unless they are from close up. The GK, seems to be able to get over and save easily all the best place fk's, whilst in reality this isn't the case. Especially if the player in case has very little shot power. Also, make the 'roll out' fk's more easier to aim. They always seem a bit hit and miss with me. More hit and hopes than any sort of accuracy.

3. One think that needs to be got rid off is the way the players pass the ball. Nearly every normal pass seems to be met with the outside of the foot. The normal sidefoot method is fine. The only exception should be when a player ahs over run the ball and has to stretch for the ball. Also general passing should be much slower.

4. A nice addition imo would be the ability to chest the ball down with more controll. Like when a cross comes into a striker, he's too far out from the goal, or at too tight an angle to head the ball. So instead he should be able to chest the ball down and then get a strike at goal.

5. Get rid of the shoot+pass fake's. They look rubbish imo, the ball seems to just stick to a player boot. The fake's in pes1, 2 and three were far more realistic looking.

6. The ability to meg someone. It should be really hard to achieve and would probably have to have both the player and the opponent to be animated together to make it work, but i think it would look great.

7. More ways the recieve the ball. Instead of recieving the ball with you're back to the ball, you should be able to recieve the ball on the half turn. You could collect the ball and in one movement move away from an opponent approaching. Players with superiour technique should be able to do it more effectively. It could be achieved by pressing L2 or something whilst recieving the ball.

no. 2,4,6 & 7 on your list achieveable.
number 2:
have tried using combos of holding R2 and dipping or R1 and powercurl(if those make sense)

Number4:
Hold R1 when you receive a high ball the controll it with their chest and on the bounce (depending on postion of player) is a good opprtunity to half volley

Number6: This is tricky but i've done it, when a defender creeps from either the left or right-hand side of the dribbler quickly tap R2 and the direction in which the defender is coming fromand he'll be caught falt footed and instant megs.

Number7:
Learn to use super cancel (R1+R2), i don't quite understand nwhat you mean but, in doing so i've had thigh controls and and even the jumping inside footers

hope that helps

anyways....should have the flowing hair again (like pes3) adds ultra realism when playing w/ Ronaldinho, Maxi Lopez, or seaman

I know about all the free kick stuff. I guess it's more of a goal keeping issue again, rather than the free kicks themselves. Sometimes you'll hit a really sweet free kick and the keeper manages to catch it standing up with minimal effort.

I know chest control can be done, i'd just like it to be refined a bit more. So that you can have a it more controlled in tight areas, thats all.

About the last point. I don't mean about super cancel, I mean when you recieve the ball. Instead of a bog standard control, there should be some different animations which allow you to control and turn on the ball whilst recieving. Kind of like on the latest fifa that was out. I don't know it's kinda hard to explain. Basically, different kinds of first touches. A player with high techinique should be able to get away from an opponent in a tight area by simply using his first touch.

do you get me?

I have a pretty good addition that I'm sure every one has thought of at one point:

ALLOW US TO MIX-AND-MATCH KITS!!!!!! For example - You have Everton as the home team, and United as the away team... Now, the kits are a different colour, but the shorts are both white Everton and United home kit - so, Pro Evo should be able to let me select parts of the kit induvidually - eg: United home shirt, and mix it with the black away shorts. This allows me to play with the kit combination that would be used in real life, and also in other situations, stops kits from clashing (sometimes no matter what you do, 1st and 2nd kits of both teams clash).

And it would be so easy for Konami to put in place!!

Other examples of this is how you often have the England players wear all white, or chelsea wear all blue. Just that step closer to realism...

ah yes...i agree keeper consistency levels are a shocker....and yeah more animations are also required for falls, goal celeb and free kicks and pens...3 choices..and the figo stutter step looks like the player has a limp

I'd love a totally new in-game form stat/confidence meter.
This stat would grow/decrease -in game- with positive/negative moves.

Say you have a striker that's knocked one in, his confidence is going to rise.. and if he duped a defender on the way, the defenders confidence against said player would dip a little.. or depending on mentality really want to hunt him down.

Hard tackles might intimidate players with a weak mentality / have had injuries - so they get a bit wary /drop in form/confidence around them.

Basically a stat that reacts to what's going on in the game.

A defensive midfielder might have put a few hard tackles on his opponent early on which would build his confidence and control of the game / over the opponent etc..

More realism, basically.

And of course you'd need a smarter ref that would pick up on the hard tackles, talk to the player responsible, and he might tone it down a bit.

Anyhoo, my 2 cents.

'Nother point.
Make the grass - GRASS LIKE.
Not this flat cement looking shite.
If its wet, tear bits of it up.
Slide tackles should leave traces etc.

Great ideas. It would make the game alot more realistic, as physical players (Keane, Blackburn XI etc) can try and intimidate their opponents, while the more skillful players can rise above their oopponents if they play good enough. Also i agree on the grass, i think it looked better in older games.

I would like an option in formation settings where u could choose who u want in the box for corners and free kicks as when playing wiv someone like chelsea john terry who is there best heading player isnt normally in the box whereas someone like makelele is.

Yeah that's another thing i'd dig.

To add more to your point, i'd love to be able to actually -orchestrate- and -plan- set pieces.. draw the lines of runners and decoys etc. savable and loadable in game. It'd be tough to implement as im sure there'd be moves that would just dominate not so intelligent AI. ;)

A decent ref would be good that actually sends players off when they are the last man when they barge people to the ground. Everytime against my mates im through I get tripped by his last man and he gets a talking to or a yellow, these should be straight reds.

Also when playing through balls and the recieving player stutters when the ball comes allowing the opposition team to catch up, I know it can be avoided by R1 and R2 but why have this in the game its unrealistic.

i think Rangers have been licensed for the PES5...read that somewhere on this site.....hopefully for the next generation of consoles we have a lot more teams/leagues and all or most of them fully licensed.....

Also, since they have licenses for teams like Barca, Juve etc. who are sponsored by Nike-why dont they create Nike football boots in the game? not just nike, puma reebok etc. aswell.

Rangers are indeed licensed! there are pics in the WE Screenshots topic! As for the Nike footballs! They should definitely have them in,I don't understand how they have the nike logos on the kits and so on but they dont have Nike boots or balls
