Controlling the nearest player isn't always the best thing to have. He could be facing the wrong way and lying on his ass for all the game knows whilst another is facing the right way and already running. Being able to choose your player is not a bad thing.

Obviously you can't have spectators with the way it is now - one host. It would have to be set up properly on servers for stuff like that.

Sorry Zyg, I wasn't getting at you, i just threw your name out there to sound like I was part of the gang! :)
I agree having the nearest player isn't always the best option....I was just trying to explain why (i think) the option is like that, and saying how it hasn't caused me any problems, as a lot of people will read these posts to decide whether or not to get the game to play Live, and i just think it's fair that they know that it isn't neccessarily as bad as people seem to want to make it, as long as they know what to expect going in.

sorry to sound like a blasphemer or summin, but has anyone played fifa online? from the sounds of what i've heard its a lot better online than pro evo is, which is a real shame considering the massive difference in class between the two games. I've played fifa online on the ps2 and its not that bad, the lag can be really bad but it depends who you play. sometimes theres little/no lag at all. has anyone played both? to see how they compare?
